Nearly any (sub)class can be made into a reasonably strong character. In what way are you looking to be OP?

Also, on what difficulty?

Certain things that are extremely OP on one difficulty are hit-or-miss on another.

Again, what difficulty were you playing on and what difficulty did you lower it to...

Another thing to consider: Depending on which companions you take (and how you build them), certain PC classes are stronger or weaker based on your party composition.

i played as wizard on "challenging" difficulty, changed it to "story". companions are valerie, jaethal, linzi, amiri and fighter merc.

Halfling, scaled fist, thug, paladin. Always use fighting defensively. Play with only the character using skill gets experience. You can cover Persuasion, Trickery and Mobility checks so will be a level ahead of the rest of party. Have super ac, even against touch, great saves, immunity fear and disease, do reasonable damage as long as you can sneak attack. A bit of a problem with slow movement, also lack of good finesse, monk weapons (kama, sai and nunchaku).

I cannot speak from personal experience since my first character is a hospitaler, but 2 popular opinions are Eldritch Scion and Vivisectionist.

As others mentioned, depends on what you want to be and which difficulty you play on. Also do you want to solo the game or do you just want a classic party playthrough?

Aldori defender / scaled fist / paladin if you want an unkillable tank that can hit back reasonably well.

Two-handed fighter with reach weapon (there are a lot of super powerful fauchards, bardiches and glaives later in the game).

Slayer / knife master / monk for 9 sneak attacks per round (not counting AoO's).

Pure sword saints / eldritch scions are very good considering how many great scimitars and rapiers there are in the game.

Conjuration & buff specialists are popular on higher difficulties (since on hard+ enemies generally won't fail their saves). It's possible to solo unfair with Monster Tactician, for example.

Beating Hargulka isn’t about your power, it’s about his, and about his weaknesses.

Do you know what they are? What skills do you need to reveal them? What spells/abilities do you need to attack them?

Neither tank nor spank are that important in that fight. He’s good practice for the rest of the game.

Use potions, like Blur, Displacement, also start to heal tank at VERY start of combat and never stop healing.

It worked for me.

Also try spells, like HOLD monster, or HOLD person.

Hold doesn’t work, he has Freedom of Movement. You can’t heal fast enough to keep up with him.

Pls do not post theorycrafting.

You’re not going to overpower him. You should be able to outsmart him. That’s why he’s there and what makes the game great.

The easiest way to fight him is solo the game, so you will reach him at lvl 12, where most build have already gotten good tools.

So you cam just spank him

You already have all the tools you need at level six.

But i like to solo. Too bad that in this game you can't have an higher lvl cap bg2 style. Like fight Firekraag at lvl 20 and lvl 40 for mid-campaign.

That's exactly why this game doesn't have epic levels. Those levels in BG2/NWN2 were some crazy ♥♥♥♥. Like the wizards / sorcerers in BG2 could instantly solo the entire game the moment they got lvl 18+.
