Weapon focus?
given that here are more powerful weapons to find as I progress should I focus on the latest powerful weapon I get. For example Valerie has WT heavy Weapons and is using a bastard sword +! and is proficient in Bastard sword. I just got the mallet of woe should she become proficient in hammers and flails? I wondering if there a way for me to maximise the benefit of different powerful weapons and not spend feats/skills on specific types?

Short answer - no one uses a feat just to use mallet of woe. it looks good when you get it, but maces in general are not worth concentrating on.

Long answer
If your not a melee oriented combatant, don't worry about it. Use the best weapon available to the best of your ability as needed.

If you are a melee oriented combatant, have a build in mind and stick to it.

You can try googling [Pathfinder Kingmaker melee builds]

It's generally not worth spending a precious feat on Weapon Focus more than once for each character.

Leave the maces, hammers, and flails to Harrim. Val is fine with a bastard sword. She is a fighter, so has plenty of feats for weapon focus and weapon specialization and the improved and greater upgrades. Other characters can get weapon focus if they need all the accuracy they can get, like daggers or short swords for rogues, or longbows for archers. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Harrim has much better uses for his feats, and Amiri should be free to choose whatever 2H weapon she wants (plus, she can't specialize as a barb, so there's that).

This is a problem with computer games. You need to know what items are coming to pick the feats for them, unlike tabletop where you always just happen to {loot, see in a shop, find someone to make, etc} get the one you built your character for (tougher but doable if exotic).
So you can wiki at the item list to see what to pick, or you can delay picking until later and adapting to what you found, or you can pick early and use the best item of that type you can find. All three work, but if you are trying to max/min I would just look ahead at what items you can get when and pick off that list. Picking for endgame items means doing without for a while early on, though, for some types. Maybe find something mid game and aim for it so you can use it longer?
