Thanks, I actually watched that as my first build. But I don't understand what's going on when he's clicking through the levels and choosing spells and feats in what looks like the character creation screen. I wasn't able to do that in my own game and when I leveled up from playing I didn't get to choose my own spells either. So I'm kinda confused on some of this stuff.
How do you make a full level 20 'build' that I can save for later or use as a guide as I level up? I also see the 'load build' option, but it's not clickable and I didn't find anywhere to save a build or anything like that.
And posts about Necro builds are very common. I mention this just because there are a lot of threads here and on Reddit, etc already that get into the (dis)advantages/specifics of different kinds of Necro builds. There's more out there already that people probably aren't going to repost here.
Normally that more the Divine caster like cleric who raise undead more naturally. With Death Domain that suppose to be the best choice . In Pathfinder it not have much advantage. Normaly in PnP they can get lot of ability and feats to enhance there undead and rebuke.
Normally Animate Death are suppose to last longer and grow in power as you level up. I think they nerfed that in Kingmaker
As a wizard specialised in Necromancy you will get a bonus on you DC roll for that school of magic and some bonus spell but for a summoner it will be a waste probably.
For animate death you probably better with a Conjurer who will gave a little bonus to duration. With an extend metamagic rod or feat. And maximise I think it work too. As a conjurer you can also get bonus to throw cloud thing spell. Undead will not be affected in stinking cloud for example.
I have a build for a Dark Elven Necromancer Wizard back in the day of 3.5e, Was specialised in death spell like Finger of death and acid and summon spider and Death. But in Kingmaker I modified it and made a Sorcerer instead because it feel more like a Necromancer than the actual Wizard Necromancer specialiised. Sorcerer can use the Undead Bloodline who make it more like a real Necromancer, It finished up as a Thiefling also because it dont have Dark Elves or sub-races for Elves. Thiefling have some good choice for some great bonus as a Necromancer.
The point of Ecclesitheurge is to have better spell options outside of summoning/animating dead.
And yeah, I should have been more clear on the Herald Caller Feats not working with Animate/Create Undead. I meant if getting the Feats was a selling point for going Herald Caller (and you were going to use Conjuration summoning spells, especially in the first few levels before you have access to Animate Dead) then you might rethink that choice knowing you can just take the Feats anyway. OP did say they wanted lots of summons, so that implied to me they'd likely be using actual Conjuration summons too (not just Necromancy animate/create spells).
It have the Necromancer Staff who enhance ANimate death spell, maybe it have some other items out there similar to it.
Here's the thing though, it's not very fun. They really can't kill anything and they take a long time to do it. That many skeles end up just being the best CC ever.
