Are there any starting vendors of mage armour potions?

I don't think anyone sells x99. You might want to dip into a class which can cast it. Also invest into UMD to cast Shield from wands.

You will get Bracers of Armor though later.

Did it ages ago on this subject. Current year and still bugged. Same as Monk AC working with shield while flurry gets turned off even if you have monk weapon with shield.

Also crane wing/riposte works with 2h weapons.

Actually I think that is fixed now as I am only getting 3AC from mage armour while wearing bracers

I have already dipped into monk and vivisectionist, so putting another dip into wizard just for the armour self-buff seems wasteful.

Bokken sells a wand with 50 uses, but when that is used up that will be it!

Seeing how you could get +5 bracers early in Act 2 if you know where to go... I would say you need not worry.
