I never found this honestly. If I got any burn at all, it didn't appear to do anything. How are you achieving this?
25-2 just means healing can't bring you up to more than 23 until the effect goes away. While 25+12 for example, will just become 25+9 when you take a bit of dmg, and when it's gone, it's gone, because you can't heal hit points granted by a spell that are lost unless it's from a Constitution bonus iirc.
I never pay much attention to it. I just use False Life on characters that need a hit point buff before a battle, and consider Aid to be a worthless spell in this game, like many others.
Meaning it actually was a useful spell back in AD&D 2e, but rule changes to 3e and subsequent games have rendered it so very nearly useless it isn't worth having on the spell list. The +/- thing. It provides such a small benefit that it gets completely overshadowed by all the +/- ability buffs and DCs and all the rest. Much like a cantrip which gives 1 HP.
Probably why I never noticed it; I only leveled Kineticist to 3.
Man are my eyes that bad that I missed "per character level" LOL... Ill have to look at the description better i guess but if it is WAI guess Ill just reroll Psychokineticist so i dont die in one hit... Thanks for the help!
