How do I use the ring of circumstances?
I got the ring from the merchant and equipped it in the ring slot.
According to the description you should be able to select what bonusses you get.
I was resting with the ring equipped, but there was no option to select something and no bonus from the ring was shown on my character.

In the ability section (middle bottom of the UI, where you also find charge) there will be a large number of options for the ring - you can select 3 (or was it 4? cant quite remember) - they will take effect AFTER the next rest.

gz on getting the best item in the game

I actually like the grandmaster rod more^^. Ignoring immunities and resistances while maximizing and empowering a spell is really huge. Esp. "ignore immunities" part. One-Shot Wriggling Man on unfair. +1 to all stats is nice, but effectively means +1 to saves +20 hp +1 AC + 1DMG +1toHit for most classes. Fortunately, you can get both...

Bokkens elixir is universal and is useful for anyone. same as the ring. The Rod is not universally useful, so must be lower on the power scale.

Well, if you value universal usefulness higher than power level increase, yes. But imo the rod allows you to potentially do things / defeat enemies you wouldn't be able to do otherwise (esp damage to immune enemies, but max+empower high lvl spells is also nice), while the elixir and ring give some minor boni (that are good since type is rare so they stack, don't get me wrong)

that's how you evaluate things on the power curve. you need to add versatility/availability/max potential and compare it to the test medium. While the rod can be more powerful in a pinch more classes can benefit from exliir over a period of time. Doesn't matter though. all are top tier stuffs.

And occupying different slots, so its not a question of eigther/or...

(I mostly look at items from a DM perspective, more powerful = how much does an item upset the power balance of the game. The ring + elixir don't change much, but the rod greatly upsets power balance between group & monsters. But thats just a personal preference for looking at items, not a fact.)

You equip the ring after resting, you can use the functions under the ability section. Middle section of your bar, it goes under a circumstance bonus which for ability scores is rare. Attack and save however aren't rare of that type so would advise main score + con.

I would never give my party anything approximating the stuff you get in PK in later chapters because I'd just power creep myself into the corner and had to use same mentally challenged lvl27 50Cha sorcs to challenge them at all and modify all stats for mobs - thats too much work to do for your own recklessness with handing out items..
