gz on getting the best item in the game
I actually like the grandmaster rod more^^. Ignoring immunities and resistances while maximizing and empowering a spell is really huge. Esp. "ignore immunities" part. One-Shot Wriggling Man on unfair. +1 to all stats is nice, but effectively means +1 to saves +20 hp +1 AC + 1DMG +1toHit for most classes. Fortunately, you can get both...
Well, if you value universal usefulness higher than power level increase, yes. But imo the rod allows you to potentially do things / defeat enemies you wouldn't be able to do otherwise (esp damage to immune enemies, but max+empower high lvl spells is also nice), while the elixir and ring give some minor boni (that are good since type is rare so they stack, don't get me wrong)
(I mostly look at items from a DM perspective, more powerful = how much does an item upset the power balance of the game. The ring + elixir don't change much, but the rod greatly upsets power balance between group & monsters. But thats just a personal preference for looking at items, not a fact.)
