Any good build for Octavia???

Lvl 5 total (arcane trickster, wizard, thief). Any good feats, spells, strategies, etc???
Ps: i got her on lvl 2 still. Need to level her up yet

Toss ira on her so she stops moaning about rest and accept she's about the worst wizard there could be made barring making a 7int one. Fun part is even jaethal makes a slightly better wizard than her even with dead inq level.

Octavia is a great AT, at least up to and including challenging difficulty. She has great DEX and great INT, exactly what a good AT needs. There are many ways to dispel fatigue so her low CON isn't as bad as some ppl make it to be.

Just be careful to get all the AT requirements asap, so you can pick AT at level 5. This means you have to get Accomplished Sneak Attacker at level 3:
1 - rogue (start)
2 - wizard (start)
3 - wizard - Accomplished Sneak Attacker
4 - wizard
5 - arcane trickster - Precise Shot

Be sure to also max Trickery, Mobility and Knowledge:Arcana, since AT requires 4 ranks each.

I did send her into a archer vivisectionist once when my main was a arcane caster. The 2 levels behind kinda hurt at first, but she become quite good mid to end game. Of course a mc or a merc can do it better, but she was ''ok'' and fun to play with.

Arcane Trickster was tailor made for Octavia, and makes her actually useful. Almost anything else seems like a waste. Even with a caster main character, she is too useful as she can do most rogue duty, a lot of wizard duty and can damage the heck out of things as an AT.

you could also go for the archer magus but same thing with the 2 levels down. But i like the spellshot

Thing is if you want to play an AT, you're better of going viv1 / sorcerer9 / AT10.

You can make a case for going wizard instead of sorc to get spells earlier, tho sorc get a usefull bloodline and more casts per day, which you desperatly need on an AT, but there's no reason to pick rogue over vivi.

It's not like we have much of an option. She comes with a Ro level. Best we can do with her regarding splits is Wiz8/Ro1/AT10/V1. At least that's 1d6 sneak extra.

Yeah i know, but i wanted to adress why Octavia isn't the "perfect" AT so many people make her out to be.

well obviously, at least in this game (Since Wizards get none of the good stuff they get in the pen and paper in this game). But we are talking about Octavia, when you get her she's a rogue1/wizard 1. That's what you have to work with.

So sure there are better build out there. But Octavia won't be using them since she's already stated up (unless you use a complete rebuild mod).

Personally 1 level of vivi really worth much compared to getting more spells per day from 1 extra level of wizard.

None of the npc party members are that great, they are all able to be perfectly serviceable. But you won't ever get the level of effectiveness you can get from characters built from the ground up.

That'd take about everything. Class, race, spread, alignment, etc. They did pretty much nothing right. And it's not like they can't make a useful wizard companion. Cephal is all octavia should've been.
