I was playing a sorcerer and I got protection from energy by default at level 3 because of a draconic bloodline. I had enough spells between Tristian and my character to give everyone resistance to fire. Then I cast grease where he and the archers were to knock Tartuccio down and force him to make a reflex save every round and the fight becomes pretty easy.
Or swap to turn based before the fight, or immediately after the fight starts, and kill/disable Tartuccio before he casts it.
Or, if you have a Flame Dancer Bard (you could hire one), they can effectively Communal Resist Fire at level 3 with Fire Dance. They're also good for fighting Boggard casters that use Burning Arc, for if you fail when disarming explosive bandit traps, and for dealing with enemy Alchemists including that one Wererat. You could use one in the early game, then ditch them for someone else later.
Or a pet - a leopard charging in will of course insta ressurect on the next rest.
Oh yea, true that.
