Level requirement to survive Tarctuccios fight (fireball)
On which level I can go back to him? First try with level 3 was a very short fight.

Just have either Harim or Tritian cast protection from energy-fire on the party, or drink potions that allow that.

I was playing a sorcerer and I got protection from energy by default at level 3 because of a draconic bloodline. I had enough spells between Tristian and my character to give everyone resistance to fire. Then I cast grease where he and the archers were to knock Tartuccio down and force him to make a reflex save every round and the fight becomes pretty easy.

Level 4 will make the fight easier, and that's about as high as you can expect to be. Either way though... in real time, have someone take the Fireball to the face while everyone else moves away, like Archon said. Have Resist Fire on that party member one way or another.

Or swap to turn based before the fight, or immediately after the fight starts, and kill/disable Tartuccio before he casts it.

Or, if you have a Flame Dancer Bard (you could hire one), they can effectively Communal Resist Fire at level 3 with Fire Dance. They're also good for fighting Boggard casters that use Burning Arc, for if you fail when disarming explosive bandit traps, and for dealing with enemy Alchemists including that one Wererat. You could use one in the early game, then ditch them for someone else later.

My level 2 monk with evasion and a high Dex (=high reflex save) just walked up to him and camped there while the rest of the party hung back. I didn't even attack, just let him cast 2 fireballs on top of himself, which killed all but a couple of his own minions. Hit him with 2 opportunity attacks and then finished him on my turn once the little kobs were down.

2 options on unfair. Buy a scroll of protection from fire from the cleric or charge with your tank and hope your evasion works. Either way he will kill of the kobolds in the room with the fireball

Or a pet - a leopard charging in will of course insta ressurect on the next rest.

Oh yea, true that.

Thanks to all. I now bested him (only to see that he get ressurected). The first time was bad luck as Tartuccio has rolled a very good initative and has acted before we could move. So the fireball hit the entire team in formation.... Second try he was last to move, so we could sparse out and limit the damage of his fireball.

I always use pets, if your pets are up front, 99% of the time he will target one of them. Just charge that pet in and the fireball hits himself and most of the kobolds. That pretty much wins the fight for you.

or you can use vanish potion on his target. I think he will stop casting the fireball
