Take for instance Bard having performance being made into a move action instead of a standard action.. In turn based that means they can do that on top of casting a spell or attacking..
In real time this becomes a complete chore of microing every battle to even get any kind of use of this ability.
RTWP is really only better for plowing through fodder.
Also you will learn the combat mechanics way better in turnbased mode (full, standard, swift and free actions and also initiative system are actually completely lost in RTWP)
But yea game is around 300hrs in Turbased mode I'd guess ( I'm begining of chapter 4 after 120hrs)
But I enjoy it a lot more and some classes that were really meh in RTWP really shine in turnbased mode.
But be warned there are bugs in turnbased mode ( the fear one is really anoying atm)
kinda I have played divinity oringal sin 1 and 2 and wasteland 2 and a few other rpg games. So i have more time with turn based games but I also have played dragon age origins and remember enjoying that. I think I've played pillars of enternity but not sure and I can't recall to many games using the real time tactics for squad based rpgs.
Damn i remember why i stopped playing last time. I found a camp sight and fought something that feared me and i didnt relize there was turn-based mode so when my whole party got feared and went to different parts of the map far away from each other
On RTwP it is easier to just send fully buffed Val to get every monster then cast Grease and Web and mop up everything in Melee with Freedom of Movement buff.
TB is just so much slower, and if you are one of better players that can build OP party that easily kills enemies on Hard, then there is no reason to slow the pace down.
Edit: To add you can stall your actions in RTwP and cast that spell when you want it to go off. You can run away in RTwP, until all creatures start with 0.0 on action icon, meaning nobody is flatfooted.
Yeah i just want thoughts on the subject maybe some info on the diffrence it makes
Pathfinder is a tactical turn based game at its core. Full of free and swift actions. Tb let's you maximise your planning and action economy.
For me I like the slower paced battles (I'm an xcom fan). But owlcat have put so much filler combat in this game as well, so switching for the battles that are dumb filler combat is fine
Its a toggle you can turn on and off in the midst of battle. Choose the one you like more.
The underlying ruleset was designed for turnbased, so to me turnbased is the way to play it. I enjoy it so much more that i abandoned my playthrough to start over in turnbased.
