A more offbeat option is the thundercaller bard, whose signature thunder call ability can be used around 50 times per day at high levels and offers one of the highest stun DCs in the game. That kind of character plays more like an alchemist than a bard but you can keep even high-level bosses stun-locked most of the time if you so choose.
I'm not personally a fan of the stormwalker ranger as it gives up too much in return for too little. But you can certainly get through the game with it on normal difficulty if you so choose.
Also why dragon over air ele? Air ele lets me make any spell into electric damage iirc
