Is druid worth it at all ?
can't i think they were pretty awful last time i played

EDIT: now that I’m stuck at work and awake I want to clarify. I love the idea of druids which is why they are my favorite class. While I tend to morph what some people think about them a bit I love the idea of a mage who get their power of magic from nature. Without losing the subject tho I don’t have any idea how pathfinder see druids and how they play. Im willing to play around being Druid. But I wasn’t sure if it was worth it if they were awful like someone who played it with a lot of hours under thier belt said they were without mods. I’ve played ♥♥♥♥♥♥ classes or build in plenty of games and have managed so I’m guessing I’m just asking if it is that bad how bad is it going to be because I’m going to play it anyway until I figure something out. I don’t play on easy for anything and avoid normals but in this case until I know a system heavy game like this better I’ll be on normal (default I assume )

That said I have started a bit of a test character with a weather domain. I like the idea of a Domain Druid because I almost purely want a Druid to use plants or weather for spellcasting .Blight sounded interesting but wasn’t sure about it. I don’t know enough about fey to pick defender or fey speaker. Also I don’t use it pets with Druid.

Thanks for the thoughts shared so far just hope this clear up a bit of what I meant. If you can plz explain the role of a Druid in this game so I can temper myself when thinking of how to play one.

EDIT 2: ok so I've tried having a boar (His name is Bacon) and it was love at first charge. my head cannon of having a half orc druid and boar makes this a lil fun.

Yes, especially the defender of the true world . Also comes with a pet.

Early game they're great as you get Spiked Stones and enemies will just kill themselves walking over to you.

Druid is one of the better classes. I really enjoyed that playthrough.

Druids can be realy great, good Spell Progression and usefull ones, has an Animal Companion, who are great in this Game, and if you invest into strenght you can be an passable fighter with the Transfrom Abilitys

Druids have the 2 best summoning spells: Creeping doom and Elemental Swarm. These are very useful on unfair difficulty.

They are definitely worth it. The pet alone adds a lot. You can either be support and buff the pet and allies, or just go wild and buff yourself and transform into some kinda monster.

Druid makes a great tank, especially if you have one level in monk. You will be immune to crits and sneak attacks, have absurd saves, able to self-heal and still have access to many awesome spells, like creeping doom and sirocco, and in late game, polar midnight.

They get a few decent spells but honestly mine just sits there in combat 60% of the time. He is a good opener though with some of his area spells.

For context I’m playing a 4 man Damage caster party and both sorcerer and arcanist do the job better than him. If you want him for buffing he does ok but there are better options than Druid for that as well.

Are druids worth it "at all"? Sure. They combine decent healing with decent nuking, decent buffing/debuffing and (if properly built) decent melee DPS.

The question is whether you're looking for a character who's decent at a lot of different things, in which case druids could be a good fit for you, or one who's best-in-show at healing/buffing or nuking/debuffing, in which case you'd be better off with a different class.

I guess I wasn’t very clear about what I meant when posted this but I heard from someone with a lot of hours under thier belt that compared to other spell casters that Druid is trash without mods. I like the idea of nature magic and utility spells and tend to lean towards normal Druid with a weather or plant domain without knowing more that is all I’m comfortable since I only have dnd and a few other games to go off of for what fey are and how they behave so I have no love / hate to decide if I want the Druid classes that go along with fey stuff. The main thing I wanted is okay damage if needed but a focus on utility.

Also I think I tend to not have a pet.

Every class is stronger with mods and the same is true of druids. But if you are looking for a nature-themed caster, probably your strongest options are (in order) a sylvan sorcerer. a herald caller cleric with a nature-oriented domain, or a defender of the true world. If you are instead looking for a nature-themed melee, I'd personally opt for a feyspeaker druid which is a stronger choice[www.gog.com]than it might initially appear.

Every class with an animal companion is powerful in this game, but I would rather take a cleric with animal domain than a druid. They're still quite good though.

there's some guides on how to build a powerful druid, if survivability is what you're after.
these are for the pnp but you can apply more than 95% of it to the Kingmaker

No, druids are pretty damn bad unfortunately.

They get Summon elemental swarm and insect swarms lategame which are okay but by that time its not relevant enough to make the class good.

The only saving grace is the druid who can pick illusion spells for mirror image.

Their early and midgame spelllists are strictly worse than clerics/arcane and the transformations are bad to slightly below mediocre at best.
They have pretty much nothing that would make you go "mhh if only i had druid here that would help so much"

The pet is occasionally useful but there are just better classes that get pets.
