Any idea were to go in game files to change NPC portraits?

So I've been finding a lot of portraits that I think would be better alternatives for the default ones on Valerie, Amiri, and Octavia but I have no idea where the files are that I need to swap. Anyone know?

If you google this instead of asking here you will get great guides on how to proceed.

EDIT: Also, nearly forgot, there's a sticky up top delving into the subject too.

I see the sticky for using custom portraits not changing NPC's. Also google rendered much the same result. Maybe instead of insulting me you could be useful and link the steam thread?

I'm not insulting you, what are you talking about?! It's how I did it all myself when I wanted to add more portraits.

EDIT: And I totally misunderstood your question, I thought you wanted more portraits, not change existing ones for companions.

I think the only way to do that is using mods, so have a look at:
https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderkingmaker

Maybe there's something here for doing it, if there's one way to do it I'd guess here would be it.
