However, in game they work for any arcane spell slot.
1 lvl magus /19 wizard will work.
It is clearly a bug not sure if it is going to fixed thou.
You can .
You dont have to use the spell strike.
You can get full attack with the bow + spell combat against Touch AC in single round.
Just make a lvl 1 eldritch archer and see for yourself that you can shot the bow and cast a cantrip same turn.
1 eldritch archer / 19 wizard gets the bow attacks even manyshots rapid shots etc. and all the casting ability of full wizard in single turn.
Further more he gets no arcane failure for wearing light armor which is clearly another bug.
This is just a single example of how badly they implemented the classes.
1st lvl is spell combat, it lets you get a second attack like two weapon wielding and you can use it to cast spells. You can turn off spellstrike and use spell combat only.
There is no point of delivering spells through melee or bow attack like you said. Unless it is a melee range spell and you want to increase its range with the bow.
Any Dev feedback here? Would be good to know when planning character builds
This means that while a cantrip deals 1d3, you get an arrow (My magus deals 4d6+10 unbuffed with devourer of metal, without deadly aim, which would transtlate to another +6) as well.
In case of scorching ray, you can get another 3 attacks in with the scorching ray. (assuming it works correctly)
The obvious issue is that the magus has to actually hit the target. If you can stack +attack high enough for him to consistently hit, the damage can be monsterous.
With +4 enhancmenet, you can use brilliant energy (allow you to ignore armor and shield AC bonus), which helps against certain opponents.
