[How To] - Instant game load times
Just realised that installing Unity Mod Manager https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/21 reduces the initial game launch time from "a few minutes" (as per the disclaimer the devs put in there so people woudn't freak out) to almost INSTANT.

You know you messed up when you have to put up a "this game loads slow" disclaimer and then mods come around and not only fix your other "minor" stuff (I use Unity Mod Manager to load https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderkingmaker/mods/1 because apparently devs don't care my characters are all acting out that famous slow motion scene from Baywatch all the time) but inadvertently completely fix core performance issues that your team was incapable of fixing.

I wish there was a simple solution like that for the other perfomance issues: FPS seem to go lower and lower as I advance the story - started Act 2 with around 80 FPS in Tuskdale square, end of Act 2 and I now have 40-50 FPS for no reason, nothing changed in the city, complete stutterfest.

I get more FPS in Witcher 3 ultra than the world map in this game. Turn on the city names and I lose another 10 FPS - for some bloody city names, not even that many, only Act 2.

Anyway, rant over, hope you find my tip useful. Devs, I hope you find out what Unity Mod Manager is doing to decrease the load times so drastically and add it in the game.

I was sure this was a baseless rant, but i installed the modmanager and the game IS near instantly at main screen ...wtf?

FPS wise i can't comment, as i'm locked at 60\70 fps no matter what(RTX 2080)...but it's good enough for a non FPS game i tell myself :P

Well one thing that happens maybe mod has a particular library of files which game usually loads into memory separately.

Another thing which can be is that mod just breaks the actual game load, so it doesn't load particular files which it has to, which would you then find out hours later when your game will crash.

But I hope the last one is not correct.

I've been playing for days with the mod manager installed, haven't crashed once.

This got buried, bumping so it gets seen by devs.

I'm using kingmaker modloader which has UMM as part of it and I still get the load screen each time for a few minutes. The only difference is that I also have an overlay over top the load screen telling me which mods are active and which are not.

Could the reason I still have the load times simply be because UMM isn't stand-alone?

This was so rushed, it's not even funny.

I hope they fix the load times.

The load times got a lot better with the last hotfix, actually.

That's good.

I agree. They should shorten the load times. The game is perfect except for the loading time.

People on reddit have found that the reason for the load times are the items. The more areas you explore, the more items are loaded which are never destroyed and always saved in some format or the other. For people who loot thoroughly and sell all items at their city, all these items move to the city which makes capital loading times attrocious eventually.

I'd assume they are aware of the issue.

OMG, I literally lol-ed.

Came to the forum to look for a workaround/cheese for the ghost gnomes in Pitax, who have Greater Shout (aka Vastly Improved Time Stop, the level 15ish spell of Completely and Utterly Broken with the footnote of Please Fire the Game Design Moron who made this change), and instead found this gem. Well played, my Chaotic Evil gnomish acquaintance, well played.

So basically, the game is full of memory leaks.

Yes, that was an issue from the very start sadly.
