"Barbarian Horde" quest is wrecking my stability
I got a problem called "Barbarian Horde" which immediately caused a drop from stable to worried day 1. I sent general off to deal with it but a few days later this thing gave me another hit down to troubled. What's this all about?

Obviously I got to go back and replay a load of stuff to prevent this from happening, but how? What's casing this and how do I prevent it from happening?

Is Amiri and Tristan gone?
Gregorovitch Sep 16, 2019 @ 11:27am
No, I've got both Amiri and Tristian back now, I also stumbled across the Ferryman where I got the hint as to the area Antag's Tomb is in (which I understand will enable me to find it myself)

The "mistake" I've probably made here is concentrating on Kingdom matters (specifically upgrading capital to city, levelling up woefully under-levelled advisers, claiming new region etc) rather than immediately persuing Antag after rescuing Tristan.

I did this 'cos that stuff desperately needs to be done (especially under-levelled advisers) and there is no indication that there is any time pressure on finding Antag's Tomb so it seemed the obvious thing to do at this point.

But if this Barbarian Horde business is to do with Antag then I'm going to have waste hours of complicated kingdom management play and go back to a save immediately after rescuing Tristian to find him.

Or go back further to rescuing Amiri and doing Antag immediately before even rescuing Tristian if I have to , although I really don't want to have replay all the Tristian rescue stuff again as well.

Like, I need to know exactly what is necessary to deal with this in what order otherwise I can't make reliable decisions.

I will try this first: Get your best perception companion(s) 'other' then the one you usually use. Buff perception for a DC around 40+ and save at the border of Glendeon region. Its a really long range check so keep the save far enough and save scum until you find the tomb.

Edit: as long as you have succeeded at the boatman challenge, you can find it that way.

For the future, to lower the perception DC doing this project help a LOT. I also heard that just starting the project help ..

Agreed on focusing on kingdom matters a little too much. But once you find and clear up that issue, your stability should bounce back.

Going back to my rescue Tristain save I found the tomb without any difficulty. I took Jaethal who I found had 31 Perception and I got her the +5 glasses for 36 (might prove useful anyway) and Ekun had 27 Perception with the hat he's got to back her up so I imagine that's why I found it first attempt.

Looking at the dates for this I got back to Tuskdale from rescuing Tristain about 20th Rova and the Barbarian Horde problem came up on 25th Lamasham with a second hitting about a week later.

At a guess I's say the game is set up to give you six weeks from rescuing Amiri before the first Barbarian Horde hits. This is enough time, if you need to, to fire up the three "Find the Tomb" projects (at the cost of about 750BP of course), which take about 30 days each IIRC, to increase your chances of finding it (presumably some of them tell you roughly where it is and others reduce the perception skill check required).

Otherwise if you've got the location from the Ferryman encounter and you got someone with high Perception you can just go find it straight away - although I guess you only get one shot at it so playing straight you could easily miss it and worse than that not know you've missed it for sure.

But theoretically if you try to find from the Ferryman info and fail you still have time to do the projects before catastrophy sets in, although I don't know if it also resets the perception skill check - it might since it may treat it as a new check following the projects.

It's very difficult to see how playing blind first time you could find your way though this massive and completely hidden elephant trap unscathed unless you were extremely lucky. There are too many things that can go wrong even if you do decide must find this tomb as soon as possible, and in fact there is no real reason why you should decide you need to do it as soon as possible. Soon, yes, but not as soon as possible.

If you think that's BS, wait until you get to the house at the end of time. I had to search up a guide just to get through that place. I have no idea how Dixon managed to get through that place on his own.

That gives me such a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling, man.

All I know is this game taught me very quickly in Act 2 that hard saves are mandatory whenever you finish a main quest, or even part of a main quest. So I had "Amiri rescued" and "Tristian rescued" already lined up to get out of this one.

Hopefully that policy will see me through in the end, but I'm not counting on it.

I had to look up how to get the vender. Then I realized I killed the vender lol >.< (I kill Fey on sight). Other than that, just a lot of trial and error, and building fight strategies one step (problem) at a time. You can remove all your teammates from your party and rest with only 1 camping supply for your MC. If you want to refresh spells, just bring them with you and its only 2 supplies

The research projects are your failsafes if you play it straight. Shouldn’t need them.

Give Reg four levels of Dragon Disciple and a strength belt and make him your general. When you need an Athletics check, bring him along.

Such as a certain ferryman. A few Barbs hitting your stats aren’t the end of the world, but no reason to give them the chance.

Likewise Jaethal gets free perception with every other level of Inquisitor. Give her skill focus:perception and bring her along when you can’t afford to miss things.

I have everyone except the ring of reckless courage bearer train perception anyway. Everyone gets a roll.

Actually on my first play through I did all the chapter quests too fast because I was paranoid from hearing people talk about losing their kingdom. That’ll cost you in Troll Trouble.

For Armag, I did the research events as soon as they came up and didn’t find the ferryman until too late if at all. Linzi had all the Perception feats so when we went looking we found it. It felt like all of a piece with rescuing Amiri.

this game is also about dealing and paying attention to your kingdom just as much as it is to explore and doing quests
