Recruit bartholomew without the "save him from trolls" encounter?

Is it possible to recruit the guy without saving him from the troll attack? As in - avoid the encounter with him being attacked by trolls entirely.

If so - what are the required choices? Do i kill his pet troll the first time i meet him? Release it?

I made him release Dimwit, but he was still there during the attack. I didn't know you could recruit him, first time around he was completely bugged and now I gave the whip to Octavia and his name never came up again.

ruff :/ i hate that encounter. Bart is just too prone to exploding into a bloody shower of gore.

If I remember correctly, you can finish up Troll Trouble entirely before the zone changes. So Bart never gets attacked because you already wiped out the troll threat. That was a long time ago that I tested that so i'm not sure it's the case. I always want the exp from the new rollout of encounters + Bart encounter, so i never skipped.

The conversation for that is usually triggered during that encounter.

was that guy important? i kinda liked his troll project, too bad i forgot about him when i had to save his ass from the trolls

nono hes just another advisor guy for your kingdom (economy or arcane i think) and theres better slots for those. I *think* ? he helps in the lategame against the individual curses?!. Not sure how that works exactly - always had him.

For the most part hes not important.

Fast finishing Troll trobles still works as of couple of weeks ago, and yes, you can recruit him even if that fight did not happen.
