Arguments for Elf:
- Unlike Sylvan Sorcerer, you don't have acid Splash to spam as a ranged attack. Unlike other druids, you're more of a caster like Sorc due to lower BAB (again two attacks max). A longbow may be nice and you should probably have mid-high dex as both Feyspeaker and Sylvan Sorc anyways. Especially with the Artisan bow Hunter's Blessing that gives +4 sacred bonus to Dex (which stacks with enchantment bonuses and works in wildshape).
- Better Spell Penetration.
- Better saves vs enchantment spells and immunity to sleep.
- Perception bonus.
Arguments against Elf:
- The hit to con doesn't help things for stat allocation. Also you can't max out CHA past 18. Less CHA, less spells and DC.
- You might want to take advantage of illusion spells as Feyspeaker, making yourself an offtank in Wildshape regardless of your poor BAB. Especially if you plan to casting in wildshape a lot with the Natural Spell feats (requires 13 WIS, which can be met with enchant WIS items). For ranged auto attacks you could just equip darts outside of shape. Lastly, special abilities from weapons also carry over like stat bonuses into shape w/ Natural Spell. So items like Star Soldier's Gauntlet with laser beam, The Call's Glitterdust etc. can be cast at will shaped. Items with on death specials like Dark Forest Spear's Wisp, will be procced when you kill in wildshape) .
Argument's for (Musetouch) Aasimar:
- Much better stat allocation. You can easily start with 19-20 CHA, 16-18 Dex and only dump STR to 7-8 (which can be made up with Wildshape+Pet for carry weight). All while having 12ish CON or WIS. Since wildshape attacks can be finesse depending on whether STR or DEX are higher, and you being mostly a caster.
- Start with Glitterdust as a free ability once per day.
- Persuasion Buff for skill checks in addition to high CHA.
Not too many draw backs here if any.
Arguments for Gnome:
- Can do almost the same thing as Musetouched on stats, but less Dex, even or more CON.
- Better Illusion specialist (+1 to Illusion DCs, basically another 2 CHA).
- Perception bonus.
But they're just cannon-fodder in melee, imho. And you don't have wildshape until level 4...
Again the thing that Feyspeaker has over other druids for melee is Mirror Image mainly and self buffing w/ Displacement or Greater Invis for enemy concealment miss chances. Someone who has actually played an illusion frontliner Feyspeaker (or attempted it), would have to comment on its viability.
Edit: How much AC can a Wildshaped Druid get? If not much it may be better to stick to support/ranged only either getting bows as an elf or using a throw away dart/ranged weapon like I mentioned. Because the useful infinite spell-like ability weapons come mid-late to late game.
