First Crown - What should I do?

Just got the three pieces and triggered the book thing with the elf king trapped in the crown. Should I set him free or hand it to the Shyka? I know that if I hand it to they, Nyrissa will be killed, but I'd like tosave/free the elf's soul. But I want to be sure that it won't back stab me or that I'll have to fight Shyka

If you plan on *spoiler* allying with and/or romancing Nyrissa, the best thing to do is to keep the crown for yourself. It gives you an extra curse research and the 2 ghostly guard summons are great long lasting summons. You can use the item out of combat without even equiping it. I'm not sure what happens when you set him free or give it to Shyka, but one or the other allows the First King to murder kill Nyrissa if memory serves me from reading posts about it. .
