Greater invisibility
It says it won't stop if you attack... but then at the end of the spell description it says it stops after you make an attack.

So does it or doesn't it go away ?
lol

The concealment effect does not stop. The invisibility does. That spell is pretty much casting invisibility and displacement on yourself.

Ok well arn't i supposed to be invisible to enemies as long as I don't attack ?
Sometimes I cast greater invisibility and they are still following me and attacking me ? When I should be invisible. 90% of the time it works but sometimes they still see me and I don't get why.
InEffect May 19, 2019 @ 10:25pm
they can still hear you if you get too close. There are also see invisible spells and some such.
I never bothered with invis too much in PK so I can't tell you what exactly happens.
In PnP it is as mentioned above.

Exactly, unless you have high Stealth / have boosted your Stealth with spells, the enemies can still hear you, if you're not careful.

Hmmm so I would need to have high stealth AND inbisibility for them not to attack me.... that definately seems bad.

When I have improved invisibility do they have a less chance to hit me ?
It does not say it boosts armor or that it makes it harder for people to hit me.

In baldurs gate enemies that attacked you while you had improved invisibility on would have a -4 on their attacks.
Which was still nice.
So don't know if something like that is in this game or not.

AND IF WE NEED TO INVEST IN STEALTH>>>>> that is BAD

AT LEAST THEY SHOULD HAVE A SPELL SO WE CAN MOVE SILENTLY.

you have concealment with greater invisibility. Concealment is a specific mechanic that makes every hit having to do a second roll on a d100. Some concealments are 20% miss, some are 50% miss. This replaces the AC bonus you get in d&d.
haplok May 20, 2019 @ 12:07am
Greater invisibility has a built-in 50% Concealment.
This is generally better then 4 attack penalty, as enemies have a 50% chance to miss entirely, regardless of attack roll. Well, it's more like half that if they have Blind Fight feat, but few do.

Ok well I guess I need to invest into stealth then... which kills my build as is. It was hard enough making a sorceror since I had to invest into charisma and then dex for initiative and defense what little left wen for more health. So not much room for intellect which would give me those excess skill points. I know there is 1 sorceror who uses intellect instead.

Which brings me to my next question.... why bother with the charisma based sorcerors ? The charisma is not as benefitial as the intellect because intellect gives you more skill points.... charisma helps with a few things but its really not that great.

That intellect base sorceror is called the "Sage Sorceror"

I liked it but I did notice what the down side was to picking 1 of those 3 sub class sorcerors....
I mean I saw that they each got extra spells... and also extra feats.....
So what is the downside to picking them over the base sorceror ?

sage is better atm because of profane staff from varnhold DLC. otherwise Cha is better. due to +1DC on metamagic apart from heighten. For solo sylvan sorc is the king due to a pet that can bait enemies in circles and kill nauseated/blinded/tripped losers.

Why do charisma bases sorc. get 1 more DC?
As far as the pet goes I dont think that makes it really superior as summons are plentyful.
But I honestly don't know how good the pet can be. So.
InEffect May 20, 2019 @ 1:19am
pet is an infinite resource and only summon worth using on a solo run is Animate dead that is level 4 spell. Stinking Cloud is level 3 so what is you plan to actually murder things? scare them with your face? Mages are the best as a utility/CC casters till very late. There is no point in wasting all that potential. And pet damage is really handy.

Wait, what? TT greater invisibility doesn't end if you attack.. Is this version different?

I don't think I actually read this description because I knew how greater invisibility worked :/
Eonwe May 20, 2019 @ 3:03am
The invisibility from greater invis doesn't wear off after you attack, so on top of having a displacement spell on yourself, you get to attack flat footed enemies.

That's how it used to work anyway, i don't think it's been changed (nor should it).
superlovi May 20, 2019 @ 3:19am
Greater invisibility is a great way to make sneak attacks if someone is immune to fear ( dazzling display). Very nice on undead with thug/vivi.
InEffect May 20, 2019 @ 3:28am
Yeah but you do get revealed and attacked once you hit something. There's that.
