I read the Pathfinder rules on the Internet more slowly and, you are correct, the Paladin Channel cost 2 uses of Lay on Hands (snif).
EDIT : the Extra Lay on Hands Feat might be something to consider (might).
I thought I knew my stuff and I reread Channel/Lay on Hands a few times and never noticed they use the same resource for the default Paladin. I am a fanatic of user-friendly details: so if I was a game designer, the info would be presented quite differently with a full in-game "wiki".
I still love my Dwarf Paladin/Cleric woman (as main character in Varnhold's Lot DLC). (That racial combo is not great, but the headband of +4 to all mental stats helps a lot!) Her Saving Throws are off the charts!
