Or a bunch of chars with low dex and no Precise shot at Hard diff. We'll never know.

Yeah if he missed all of them it is possible.

No "normal" swarm survives 33 alchemists fire, since that does 33 dmg at least. You cannot do less than 1 dmg unless you roll a 1. And the lowbie swams have 9-13 hp.

It would have been a hellwasp swarm or army ant swarm, all others would die horribly after a maximum of 15 pots.

And maybe if someone cast burning hands/firebelly (no to hit roll), it would be over sooner.

Of course, the horrible rngsus sometimes withdraws the blessing, but 33 is ridiculous..:)

If the OP is hitting a spider swarm with 33 alchemists fire without killing it, then that is a bug report in the making. But if he is instead tossing 33 alchemists fire into melee without the appropriate stats/feats and then mostly missing, that would be more of a build issue than a bug issue.

Spiders are not bugs. They are arachnid.

Does Flask hit all 3 swarms if they are at same place. If not they could stack onto each other.

Which swarm are you facing exactly? It can't the ones in the berry cave as those have 9 hp on normal. Even on unfair they have only 27.

It does hit them all.

Just to clarify ...... It was the swarm you first meet i have beaten easily before , i had 11 fire alchemist potions , all 11 missed and so did at least 5-10 spells . So i reloaded and all 11 missed again , so i reloaded and all 11 missed again . Thats were the 33 came from . And probably 15 spells as well. So thats around 40+ misses . I just took the berries and left while shaking my head.

I had several characters with really high dex and at least 1 with precise shot . It was on challenging difficulty.

Its a terrible game mechanic that brings nothing positive to the game , or at the very least the positives dont out way the nonsense.

They should have the balls to remove this mechanic as its just pointless and judging by google or any forum you look at it's one of the most hated things in the game. It's boring and pointless and certainly not interesting or skillful , it's a ♥♥♥♥ mechanic they should either change or just remove.

I dont find this game particularly difficullt , ive played many harder games , i like hard . I dont like hovering my finger over quickload with 40+ misses in a row at the start of a game. Again its a terrible gameplay mechanic.

People experience this near the start of a game and just think " ♥♥♥♥ this i got better things to do " . I didnt do that as i know it was just nonsense RNG from a ♥♥♥♥ mechanic and theres a lot of fun to be had.

On a miss, you still do 1 point of damage.

And 5-10 spells? What spell are you casting that (1) can damage a swarm AND (2) can end up doing no damage?

Burning hands, fire belly, etc. wipe the swarms out like a charm. Unless you are rolling 1s most of the time, what you are saying is impossible.

You must be the unluckiest guy alive. Do not leave your house, you will trip on level ground, and probably injure yourself.

Or are you casting magic missile at them or something? Then you are not unlucky, the swarms are immune to single target spells.
Aria Athena Jun 9, 2020 @ 8:19pm
On challenging a swarm probably survives 11 misses. I think from all the companion spells at presumably level 2, only Fire Belly still damages swarms on a miss, so unless they have Harrim, spells can easily just fail. I don't even think there is another spell at that point in the game unless the main has it.

I find it far more consistent to use True Strike will Harrim or Jaethal and throw Alchemist Fire. If I have neither of them, I usually leave it for later.

Sorcerers and wizards typically have a fairly easy time in this area because swarms are vulnerable to burning hands which by third level actually dishes out decent damage. Clerics and bards have soundburst, clerics have firebelly, and alchemists have bombs, all of which are also OK.

If you don't have any of these options or choose not to pursue them, and you also didn't take the precise shot feat on your ranged characters, then you would typically want to have your frontline kite swarms so they don't enter melee range, which lets you throw several acid/fire flasks per person from your backline and have a decent chance to hit.
