New player power attack monk weapon question
I'm pretty new to the pathfinder system in general so it may just be I don't know an interaction. Made my first monk today and took power attack as a starting feat. I was planning on just using unarmed strikes but then looted the monk weapon in Jamandi's Mansion that I forgot about because I always auto sold. I assumed there would be no difference aside from +1 hit from masterwork but for some reason the nunchaku is only getting +1 from power attack. I've attached the screenshots below. Unarmed shows 1d6+5 and the nunchaku shows 1d6+4. Unlike attack roll, mousing over the damage roll doesn't show a breakdown of modifiers. Toggling off PA both weapons have +3, my STR bonus, so that's the only reason I suspect power attack. Any enlightenment on this would be helpful

In this game, Power Attack does half damage with light weapons, like nunchaku. Unarmed attacks aren't considered light so you get the normal bonus. You would get 1.5x bonus with a 2 handed weapon.

While Power Attack is a fairly good feat, it's not a feat I would take early. The hit penalty is going to hurt you a lot more than the damage bonus will help at low levels.

I think that is because the unarmed attack is a primary natural weapon while the nunchaku is a one handed weapon that cannot be use as a two-handed.

Power Attack (Combat)
You can make exceptionally deadly melee attacks by sacrificing accuracy for strength.

Prerequisites: Str 13, base attack bonus +1.

Benefit: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls. This bonus to damage is increased by half (+50%) if you are making an attack with a two-handed weapon, a one handed weapon using two hands, or a primary natural weapon that adds 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier on damage rolls. This bonus to damage is halved (–50%) if you are making an attack with an off-hand weapon or secondary natural weapon.

When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every 4 points thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2.

You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.

But the bonus from power attack is +2. If my unarmed strike was gaining half again it would be getting +3 from power attack and +3 from my STR for +6 total. Its currently only gaining +2 and the Nunchaku is only gaining +1.

You are right, my explanation above was wrong.

After testing it the damage should be the same for the nunchaku and i think they are bugged. Are those the only one bugged or all of them are?... i don't know, but i will try check it out later.

unarmed: +3str +2 power attack = +5
