Pet companion
I'm looking at the wolf and it's looks look outdated imo the dog looks alot better. Also is the wolf and dog good in general ? Which 1 is better than the other ?

Looks to me like the dog is better early game with higher str = more maneuver points and atack rating and damage. Any redeeming feature with the wolf ?

I'll be playing a druid .

Also do pets like the dog gain extra attacks with bab progression ?

Animal companion stats can be found here:

Overall, I'd say they're all fairly balanced. Dog and wolf have Trip feat (when it succeed, knocks enemy prone & triggers Attack of Opportunity) and they're generally considered very beneficial.
I picked Leopard because it has both pierce & slashing damage (Bite + Claw) and Trip, it's been working out pretty nicely.

In terms of DPS Smilodon takes the cake, thanks to its 5 attack per round (assuming they all hit), but DPS is all it does.

Pets don't get extra attacks due to BAB. Generally speaking the smilodon and leopard are regarded as the best. Smilodon for damage, leopard for high defense, faster move speed and only remaining size medium when grown (less crowded with other melee).

The pets are fairly balanced though so picking whatever you want won't be a hindrance.

Cool I guess I'll just go with leopard then as it has a strong early game and that is more beneficial imo . Besides Ekundayo has a dog anyway or was it a wolf ? Mhm can't remember

Pets with a single attack will gain more atk due to BAB growth.

A dog or wolf gets 3 attacks eventually. -5/-10.

Pets with multi-attacks do not get more attacks though.

Pets are not balanced at all. The powerful ones are so much better.

Best CC pet: Wolf/Dog.

Best CC + tank pet: Cheetah (it gets trip + 3 attacks + highest AC)

Best dps pet: Smilodon (5 attacks).

The rest are trash.

Good to know so dogs do get extra attacks then . Wow hard to know who is telling the truth now xD . If this is true that makes the doggos quite good then .

I love your definition of trash... That's like looking at a table full of roast beef... all of it prime... all of it cooked to perfection. One of them had both salt and pepper applied before cooking, so it's best. Another had just pepper. Another had just salt... so they're both equal.

The rest... meh... trash it... no pepper or salt was added before cooking.

Never mind that you can buff it to near perfection by adding salt and pepper.

In other words... ALL the pets are great. They all are monsters when buffed. Watching the mastodon trample through a crowd of enemies is funny.

Frankly, since you have a party of 6 people, extra pets are just extra icing on the cake. You can easily win the game without pets, so it doesn't truly matter which pet you get.

I like the bear...

One huge benefit of animal companions apart from their great prowess in battle (and don't forget that you can buff them to make them perform even better!) is that they all have high physical stats that increase greatly as they level; the STR based companions have the highest STR, of course, ending up around 40 in the end, but even DEX based like the Leopard have very high strength, and that means a huge increase to carrying capacity as they level..

Especially if you are a scimitar wielder.

Generally speaking, cats in pathfinder were always the hands down best standard animal companion you could get. A little cat if you want a bit more AC, a big cat if you want more damage and the trip or grab to land more often.

3 natural attacks will put out more damage than most front line fighters, and adding trip to that is awesome.

That said, animal companions are one of the strongest class features in the game, even if you pick a sub-par one, and a wolf or dog isn't a "bad" animal companion by a long shot. So just take whichever you like the flavor of more.
