Question about Slashing Grace
So im thinking of making a sword saint. However, I dont want to go the typical estoc build, as im not a fan of piercing type weapons (just as flavor). However, I see some people use slashing grace for a weapon like Scimitar.

However, since Scimitar isn't a light weapon, it doesn't qualify for Weapon Finese. So am I correct in that if I taking slashing grace for a dex based build on a weapon that isn't like (Scimitar for example) it will just get the damage bonus, and not the attack bonus correct?

you need the dervish dance feat, which requires weapon finesse but adds dex to attack and dmg rolls, the feat is unfortunately not in-game, but the mod "Eldritch Arcana" adds it, along with many other pathffinder things missing from the game, if you dont want to use mods but still want to use a scimitar, might be a good idea to be a STR sword saint then, tho ur AC wont be as good... or just pick another weapon

So basically Slashing Grace feels like a pointless feat? Why would you ever want to use two different stats (one for attack bonus, one for damage bonus) instead of just 1 stat and stacking that stat?

The feat seems pointless.

Weapon Finesse changes dex to attack, but only for light based(+few exemptions). Slashing grace doesn't make your weapon light, just changes it to piercing and gives the damage bonus. Feels like..they just dont work well together. Even though their goal is the same, dex for damage and attack rolls. Except they dont work on the same weapons you need them for..

on weapons that dont benefit from finesse or anything else to make you use DEX for attack rolls, yes, unless you dont mind missing a lot in case ur STR is low

if u can have both for the same weapon, they work properly together

cause DEX gives AC

dueling swords are a special case which allows them to be treated as finesse weapons if u have the weapon finesse feat, in part due to being an exotic weapon, but sword saints picking it as their chosen weapon get profficiency and focus in one go, making them a good choice

It's most likely included for the benefits of first part of the Feat:"Choose one kind of light or one-handed slashing weapon (such as the longsword). When wielding your chosen weapon one-handed, you can treat it as a one-handed piercing melee weapon for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a swashbuckler’s or a duelist’s precise strike)"

So you can use a longsword or bast sword for your Duelist abilities like Precise Strike and Crippling Critical.

So is there anyway to make Sword Saint work with a typical non light weapon, such as a scimitar. Or are you limited to the few light weapons it give in a dex based build.

other than the mod i mentioned that adds some missing bits of pathfinder(dervish dance included): your remaining option is dueling swords, they can be used as finesse weapons if you have weapon finesse and are profficient with them AND can benefit from slashing grace, allowing DEX to be used for attack and damage rolls once all feats are acquired

theres also a nice ammount of good dueling swords in game, plus the aldori fighter archtype

i still reccomend either going rapier/estoc for the 18-20 2x crits or getting the mod to so u can acquire dervish dance
