Strength when using crossbows or bows?
Does strength affect the damage when using crossbows? Or your hit chance depends on your Dexterity, and damage is calculated on the weapon used.

Is there any Dex requirements for bow or crossbow, or strength requirements? Why am I seeing some ranged build that use something else than composite bow to have strength of over 15?

negative STR bonus has a negative impact on bows, but having a positive STR bonus only gives a bonus to dmg for composite bows

not sure about slings or sling staves (since they are a nearly abandoned weapon class)

crossbow dmg is not affected by str since u just pull a trigger, only pulling the string to reload and cant overdraw with a crossbow

So what str should I have? Are there even Composite bows than uses +5 STR modifier

It depends on your class and how you want to play. Rangers can chose between several fighting styles - archery, melee, etc. So you can have a high strentgh nad low dexterity for melee ranger or high dexterity and low strentgh for archery.

Eldtrich archers only use ranged weapons so strentgh is not critical. You cna even have 8 strength with an eldritch archer. He will be using other damage modifiers to compensate.

There is no limit to the bonus that STR can add. So any composite bow will add your all of your bonus.

So there's no MIGHTY X like in real D&D?
There's no composite in this version. Just longbow.

And yeah, no feats have been added for needing quick reload, so only thing to worry about a low str character is weight limit

I just picked up a composite longbow from the staglord fight though..?
I feel like a dirty rotten liar now.. I could of sworn when the game first came out there was only one type of longbow but that added strength. I remeber thinking it weird there wasn't both and thinking they must of condensed the items as they'd already condensed a bunch of other stuff.
