Verdant Chambers
What level is advisable for the Verdant Chambers. This encounter is hard and drinking a invisibility potion is not doing the trick for my Inquisitor. He keeps on getting spotted too easily.

I am only 5th level, and this is getting very frustrating very quickly. Do I have to complete this quest or is it optional, not connected to the story.

I believe its part of the main quest yeah, I somehow got passed it when I was level 4 i think I summoned a mob to distract the hydra while running far away from it behind the tree to drop aggro then I used an invis pot to sneak past the owlbear near the gate and there should be a ledge you need to pass a check on to the right of the owl bear i don't think the check was that high but my inquis was pretty low on mobility so I had to try a couple times.

You can put this quest off for most of chapter 2 as far as I know. There's a back way out that you can take if you can't fight your way out the front door (there's a plant monster that spawns where you entered the area which is quite high level, and can spot most attempts to sneak by it), so look around first to find all the shortcuts.

I think you have to do it eventually, but you can wait quite a while. I waited until after I was done with the Troll Trouble events (but before the next "big thing"), no consequences.

Same, think I was near lv 6 when I did it the 2nd time... Also, super easy with a properly spec'd Ranger :cozybethesda:

Last two times I did it was with a lvl 6 Magus and a lvl 7 Eldrich Scoundrel, both times I was able to clear it with buffs and potions. Displacement was awesome on the Scoundrel, it triggered sneak attacks and I chunked everyone.

As mentioned above there is a sneaky backdoor at the right-ish that requires athletics and mobility checks (but you can do it over a couple times if you fail) ...what definitely feels good after you successfully sneaked out ...is assemble you full party go back and beat the living daylights out of everything.

Did it at level 9 on unfair on the current run(with killing everything). So anytime you want on lower difficulties, I guess.

Never had to much of a trouble with it - only used invisibility. AFAIK - it's possible to walk around the traps even if you're leaving through the main gate. A little bit tricky though.

You can bring a scroll of freedom of movement and some form of invisibility. Prepare, trigger encounter and sneak out over the wall. Most combat oriented characters can fight the critters at some point, though. The toughest used to be the owlbear under the main gate...not sure if he still is.

Plant is a lot harder. It sees invisibility so you can't kill it in a few rounds with greater invis like you can owlbear.

Well, there is always the wolf-exit nearby.
InEffect Jun 16, 2019 @ 3:36pm
well yeah. just saying that if you want to kill everything plant would be pita. You need 46AC to tank it on unfair and mirror images too, cause 20's happen. thing also has like 30-something AC(36? don't remember exactly).

I admit, I never kill it, except once on my run with the fighter/rogue, to see if it can be done. But I remember the bear as the hardest, maybe because it got me once or twice with a crit hug ;)

Verdant Chambers is mostly about skills. In theory your Inquisitor should be fine. The most important piece, the potion, you already got. After you beat the only unavoidable fight, the way to go depends on your skills. If you are good at athletics, go up and along the wall after the fight. Or use the invi potion and escape throught the main gate and then across the fallen tree.

note that invisibility is NOT "instant perfect hiding"
it gives +20 to Stealth checks
so if you wear armour, have no ranks in Stealth...an enemy with good Perception might spot you

I would heartily recommend any non-tank class to take a few ranks of Stealth or more if they have points to spare (especially arcane casters)
that makes things much easier for defence in many bad situations, IMHO :)
