How useful is talking to animals in this game?
In DOS 1 and 2 it was pretty important to get quest info or unlock secrets. Is it the same in this game or just fluff text?

You don't really talk to animals in this game, can't remember a single time when you would've talked to a one (Besides Ekun's "dog") . There's no pet pal skill here

They quote a lot of Pathfinder tabletop rules directly in the game mouseovers, so your confusion is understandable. Usually the quoted text isn't wrong in the computer version, but it may or may not be particularly relevant.

Nah it wasnt ingame. I was looking for information on druids because I want to create one soon and must have ended up on an internet site for pathfinder the tabletop instead of the game.

Speak with Animals spell is not in the game. Animal companions are very useful though.

While you can't talk to animals you can make checks to interact with them at times. This is normally a Nature Lore check, and it is something that druids do get a boost to (they get a small boost to the check, it is a class skill, and the skill runs off wisdom which is a druid's prime spellcasting stat). Like a lot of other things from the PnP, Nature Lore has a lot different things folded into one, and is thus quite useful.

Generally class features, like druid's Wild Empathy that allows diplomacy check with animals with 1 or 2 INT, don't really show up outside of battle. It's mostly just skill checks, and there are a TON of them. It is vital to have at least one team member that has a high, if not maxed, level in all skills. Most of the time the game just goes with the party member with the highest skill level. However there are times when an action can only be preformed by your main (mostly Persuasion checks, so make should your main invests in it regardless of their build), or the character must perform a bunch of actions in a row that call for different checks (ex. climbing the side of an old tower, and then reading some very old writing spotted on the way up).
