Paralyzed while having Freedom of Movement?????
I am past the house of edgy-time (or whatever), and fighting in the changed capital now. And I realize that the Wild Hunt can paralyze my party EVEN THOUGH I buff everyone with FoM. How is that possible??

Also, on a side note: in every encounter, the Wild Hunt goes for Octavia first. So she is always down after 5 seconds. They did not do that before. Any explanation?

Does a char actually have both icons on their portrait at the same time?
Because the normal explanation is that an enemy dispelled the freedom of movement effect on some of your party members.

Thought that, but the chars have both icons... I also have an artifact an Valerie that so far prevented paralysis, no sometimes she is paralyzed...

oh well...

I get both icons too sometimes, but the characters can still move.
The only time they could not move was in the last fight, when fom gets disspelled.
If you truly feel its a bug, send your save game to the devs.

as for octavia, if an enemy enters combat they will go for the most squishy/interesting target, unless they already targeted someone else first. So it is important to send in your "tank" first, until they get all the aggro.
Also while it might seem that the enemies "spwan" during the fight, that is actually not true for most encounters (you can see them already being there if your perception is high enough), so any future argument about "they just spawn during the fight, so no way to get them to attack the tank first" is invalid. (unless they got summoned like they do in the last bossfight, but then they all get summoned at the same place, so its again easy to be out of range with your squishies).

Thanks, I now noticed that affected chars can still move - so I think the paralyse icon is a bug. Hard to see as I am summoning what I can, and the screen is crowded. ^^

I know that the mobs don't spawn - I see them, I send in Valerie first, and the enemy archers (at least always two) go for Octavia first. Maybe I have to increase distance between tank/enemy and Octavia...

yeah, best to let octavia stay waay behind before each encounter starts (or rather anyone else than your frontline fighters, otherwise the next complaint will be that they focus attack your alchemist etc.. xD)

Guess I will add more "a" to "waaaaaay" behind then for all squishies ;) Thanks!

(I just noticed that until desolated capital, my ranged attackers were fine and never the center of attention. But I guess some more distance will cure that.)

I would have to check, but i have other things to do at the moment: as i recall, the "freedom of movement" does not give you complete free movement, but only improves the save rolls? Therefore, even when putting it on, it does not give you complete protection. It just makes it harder for the enemies to hit you with their spells.

Yeah, you better check that again.

Hmm. I found an forum, where they talked a lot about this topic. Theoretically, you could use this spell to fly to the moon, as the ground does not stop your movement any more.

https://paizo.com/threads/rzs2qna5?Does-Freedom-of-Movement-negate-daze

I don´t know, if the devs asked themselve the same question, but its something, which should be solved with some brain and logic. In its orginal it was just intended as being an counterspell against webs and paralized. Maybe now, the devs deceided to weaken the spell a bit, so the free movement spell does not give you complete free movement in a paralize spell any more. But you still should be able to make spells or use an bow and such things.
I am not quite sure, what they have in their plannings at the moment.

Well, as you may acertain by reading this thread, FoM does give immunity to paralysis in this game.
Furthermore, FoMs describtion in PnP pathfinder specifically lists paralysis as an effect it would target so there is really no ambiguity here.
Arguing about daze is a whole other matter as it is not listed and you can argue that it is a mental effect rather than just movement restriction.

And if you read the forum i gave you, somebody says:
"Actually paralysis seems to be a condition that can be both a physical and mental inhibitor. As hold person is mind affecting and thus the imposed physical debilitation is via the targets mind. Or simply, hold person and like ablities and spells restrict the targets mind from telling it to move."

As this whole topic isn´t completly clear, i would rather asks the devs, what they intend to do in this case.

Well, rules as written specify that it works against paralysis specifically, and the general rule in pathfinder is that the more specific rules trump more general rules anyway.

Thus the interaction rule is as clear as it can be.

Ok, i retreat my statements, but in the 1.1 beta patch list is one line, which could referr to this topic:

"Freedom of Movement spell worked incorrectly. Resolution: fixed."

FoM does NOT grant you immunity to movement impeding effects (of which paralysis is only one) but it allows you to move despite suffering from the effect. Neither does it dispel any ongoing effects. It gives you auto-success on escape attempts from grappling and your enemies will autofail in grappliing you after the FoM is active.

It lasts a minimum of 70 minutes. So if you were under a 100 minute paralysis effect , you would be able to move for 70 minutes and be frozen for the rest of the time. If you would receive another FoM, the 100 minute effect would run out.

So it is perfectly normal to see the "paralyzed" icon along with the FoM icon.
Entropie Nov 12, 2018 @ 11:16am
I am pretty sure this game implements it as an immunity rather than a suppression.
