It's just the name that they are giving to the Mythic path that isn't sponsored by a specific power.
Examples:
Lich is where you turn yourself into a Lich through powerful rituals
Angel is where some being of a good-aligned plane is feeding you energy/knowledge/?mythic juice?
Legend can just be sheer mortal will that eventually transcends normal mortals, or it could be exposure to some other exceptional power. An extreme example is the Starstone that can turn mortals into gods, but only 3 people have ever done that, and none of them have discussed it.
Archmage: "A master of arcane magic, the archmage casts powerful spells with great skill and ease, and shapes reality at whim." The base for the Lich
Champion: "Unparalleled in combat, the champion stands triumphant on the battlefield, surrounded by bruised and broken foes." The base for the Demon
Guardian: "None can get past the impervious guardian—those who threaten this devout hero’s charges are doomed to fail." The base for the Azata
Hierophant: "Drawing on power that goes beyond the gods, the hierophant is an inviolate vessel for the divine." Base for the Aeon
Marshal: "Inspiration and courage make the marshal the greatest leader, capable of leading troops to victory over any challenge." Base for the Angel
Trickster: "Skill, training, and savvy make the trickster the master of the impossible—defying unbeatable obstacles and traps, tricking the wise, and hitting otherwise unattainable targets." They appear to have kept this one intact for the most part but seems like they want to make it Fey related
They have paths based on the character roles plus an universalist path that everyone can access. It looks a bit like WotR is going to twist it based on alignment.
However they implement the stuff, I am looking forward to it. The only really high-level games were NWN and NWN 2 DLCs thus far.
