Is it required to know the Pathfinder RPG world before playing the game?
What can I read or watch to get a hang of the Pathfinder Universe?

nope. I went in blind and its still pretty easy to dive into imo.
So there are no lore references or older characters that make a reappearance?

If I wanted to learn more about the Pathfinder RPG world where should I go?
I use this one for the lore
https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Pathfinder_Wiki

For the rules
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/

This incomplete but good enough for the game

d20pfsrd.com is a good place for information but it's more mechanics oriented.

You don't need any knowledge of the pathfinder lore to play this game. But you need to understand the mechanics if you want to play the game properly.

My first play through, i was constantly alt tabing to d20pfsrd because i wanted to understand what was going on into a fight or how to build a my character.

But you could also just play the game on easy, forget about the mechanics and just enjoy the story, which incidently is pretty good.

Damn, thats a cool site. So its dedicated to only Pathfinder right?

Sorry for the dumb questions, I'm a little new to the RPG/DND world.

It's based on an already published adventure pack. I would reccomend NOT reading any lore stuff for your first playthrough since you could easily spoil yourself, specifically about one of the villians who has a very neat backstory.

Knowing the pathfinder ruleset helps, don't need to know the lore though.
(There are a bunch of minor differences between PnP pathfinder and this game though, a couple major differences.)

If you play on standard or easier modes you can get by not really knowing how to make proper characters/using pre-gen NPCs.
Uh, look up swarm rules before going into Fangberry cave though...

Yeah, I feel like one of the reasons this AP was such a good first choice is because it's canonically somewhat isolated both geographically and lore-wise from the rest of the Pathfinder world so you can more easily just drop a newbie player in and feed them the necessary lore as they go along.

Like reading general lore is actually not going to spoil you much; it's reading the AP itself that would be a spoiler since that's the sole source for a lot of the lore in the game.

Still, if you're curious anyway, in addition to the links people already gave, there's also a fair number of entertaining comics in the Pathfinder universe[www.comixology.com] if you have a few bucks to spare.
