Oculus of Abaddon (Spoilers)
Is it only possible to obtain it by having Tristian in your party when you enter Vordakai's Tomb?

iirc you can sacrifice anyone, but if you play evil (and why would you want the oculus otherwise) its the most logical choice since he betrays you shortly after anyway.

So I should bring him in then - thanks!

He'll show up on his own later. So you don't need him in your party.

Which is super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ odd, we were locked in the tomb and had to battle our way in there, apperantly he can just teleport in and out of the throne room at will. If he had mentioned that earlier I would definitely had brought him along. His timing is also amazing, i spent like 3 days in there and he arrives at the very split second Vordakai is defeated. And dont give me any magical monitoring ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, we are talking about a millinea old cyclop necromancer with enough power to eradicate continents, in the middle of his heavily warded lair. No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way tristian was just doing a peeping tom on that.

So I can only obtain the Oculus after the Tomb?

Yes

@Attelso:
(T)his part gets explained later on ;]

So what is this about sacrificing a party member? If I don't get the Oculus until after I am finished with the Tomb, am I only sacrificing Tristian specifically, or any party member at all?

From what I know:

When battling VORDAKAI Tristian will steal the Oculus midfight, regardless if you have him in the party or not.
The only difference that can happen outcome wise (afaik) is that with certain good aligned choices with him in the past you might be able to convince him to destroy it on the spot.
You'll get your chance to grab the thing when you chase after him later on. (next story arc) and yes, then you will have to kill him for it.

Not sure if thats what Ebenholz meant
*curious*

Still, isn't the oculus completely useless? Or does it have different abilities from the p&p version, which are all unsupported here?
Lonesome Wolf Dec 8, 2018 @ 2:26pm
kinda, yeah.

InGame Effects:
3x True Seeing (20th lvl) per day and permanent Extend spell on the wearer (belt item)

The true seeing effect works for me (the char tends to go insane afterwards on a failed will save - I like that *g*) Sidenote: Jaethal is immune to that; Ring of Law makes immune too
The juicy "extend spell" part seems to be broken thou.

The thing has a red background as if unusable so maybe it´s just bugged - The mysterious articulated flavor text hints that it needs to be placed into an eye socket thou to unleash its true potential. (it´s not fitting into helmet slots thou)

Still keeping it cause I stubbornly believe I will be able to annihilate a city with it at some point ;p
Or at least see VORDAKAI using this undead brain of his to smell this thing is actually in my backpack (or talk with the Storyteller...), stab me in the back, steal it and go on a rampage.
