Does Curse Researching do anything?

I've been doing them and they don't seem to do anything important when completed... is there any reason to do them other than for completion purposes? cause they take a long ass time of 45 to 60 days...

They bring in some smaller points in areas, where you have difficulty to get points otherwise: arcan (and something else).

I have no idea, if it does have disadvantages, if you do not research them. In my game, it helped at the end (at least it was stated there), as i did them all.... :/

It usually gives me a bonus in Arcane or Divine and says how it boosted our knowledge about magic

It gives relatively high bonuses upon completion but of course nothing even close to what you'd get just doing the 3 other events you could complete in the same amount of time doing regular events.
Gives like +9 divine and +6 arcane and stuff like that.

Then it literally just tells you exactly what you already know/knew about whatever you're researching...at the end of the quest you figure out *X* then upon completion of the research it goes "hey look that meant *X* and there is nothing else we can do about it"

0 reason to do them.

It's required for the secret ending and romance option. If you want to try and complete the secret romance for Nyrissa, one of the requirements to successfully romance her is to research all of the curses

In your first play-through the special "secret" ending is unlikely to occur without using a spoiler filled guide, because very specific choices over the entire game have to be made.

Once you play through once and know what the entire story is actually about, there is an in depth thread to achieving this ending on Reddit.

She isn't the new girl. Its a secret quest line that people who haven't played through at least once are extremely unlikely to have an idea how to do. Tons of spoilers. If you don't mind getting a walk-through, it exists, but it will probably ruin parts of your experience.

Not all, only 13 out of 16.
List of known criteria for romance Nyrissa:
Complete at least 2 out of 3 special dialogs with Tartuk, Vordakai, and Armag relating to their "curses"
Obtain the Briar from king of Pitax (in order to obtain the briar, Tristian MUST destroy the Occulus of Abaddon while still inside Vordakai's Tomb)
Research at least 13 of the 16 Curses in the game
Do NOT give the Crown to Shyka the Many (not sure if giving it to the inquisitor or destroy it yourself counts, just keep the thing because it unlocks a curse research anyway)
Obtain at least 90 "affection points" with Nyrissa via dialog choices with her
Complete "and so shall you reap" in the final chapter, unlocks immediately after entering the portal back to your kingdom if you completed all the above (sans crown).

ok, so to clarify, if i only got fake Briar from Irovetti, it makes no practical sense to research the curses, even the one about the Briar?

The "root" research from the Bloom quest gives you the exotic garden building. Other than that and the secret quest, yes they are waste of time and BP
