Can i store items that i dont want to sell at trading post's chest ?
For the purpose of reducing weight, im considering keeping some items that i might need in the future in the chest, wondering will they goes missing after some time ?

Things like camping supplies and ration are very heavy, and im unable to use the "split" feature, can somebody tell me how to use that ?

One of chests is your stash, which will travel with you to the next chapter. As far as I can tell, loot stays, where you left it (there are few exceptions).
No idea, how to split items in containers. Haven't had this issue with merchants. And supplies should be kept in the inventory, because they are used when you need to rest and can't purchase or gather them (dungeons).

You can store stuff at the trading post Chest. Its actually a personall chest you can access at multiple locations (the trading post, your throne room, and your bedroom) So not only is it safe but it travels with you.

But honestly even loot left on the ground on any map seems to stick around indefinately.

To split a stack, just right click on stack and hit split option. (only works when you dont have a container open)
