Claiming silverstep (SPOILER ALERT)

Hello everyone.
I have done the lonely hunter quest, talked to the merchant in silverstep and done the cyclops quest.. But silverstep will not unlock to me.. Does anyone know what must be done to claim silverstep? Or am i caught in a gamechanging bug? :-(

I could be mistaken, but IIRC Silverstep unlocks to be claimed in or about the time of the third chapter. I wandered through there to get to Varnhold when I was invited over, and stopped in and the dialog for "I am your Baron!" made little sense, especially when no one said "Baron eh? Well I didn't vote for you!" or "Dennis, there's some lovely filth down here!" or anything.

At any rate I rushed the Cyclops quest and then was busy with other events and didn't finish off the Lone Hunter stuff until after I had claimed Silverstep IIRC, but that was 1.0 and awhile ago so it's plausible that I could be mistaken or that the sequence of events that I experienced wasn't intended to be the way it is.

Still I would say that I both felt like I should be able to claim Silverstep sooner than I was able to, and that I didn't really do anything special particular to the region to claim it that I could see. I've also played a second character up past that point, so I feel like I'm correct in saying that you should be fine to continue on without worrying that you've hit some game damaging bug.

It just said on other forums and guide sites that it should be claimable after completing the lone hunter quest... But i will wait and see what happens. I hope you are right! Thanks alot!

Yeah I'm 100% sure that I didn't even do the lone hunter quest until after chapter three the first time, but that was just after release and what was a bug and what was working as intended was less than obvious. On my second playthrough I seem to recall doing the Lone Hunter and then having to do a couple of projects before being able to claim Silverstep and since I was after the artisan for the region I had an interest in getting it done ASAP.

I would say take a save and progress a few months through projects or skipping time and see if it opens, while of course all the random dice rolls are randomized there are hard caps on times for events that will always be the same. This should let you, at least in theory, get into the third chapter and faff about until it opens up if it will open up. I could be mistaken as I've been playing other things for the last month or so as the fact that my lawful evil character couldn't side with the hellknights baffled me to the point that I just gave up on the game entirely. Sadly from what I've read since then that is working as intended, but I know I've unlocked Silverstep on two characters and don't recall it being an immediate response to an action on my part so I feel confident that there is also a time frame involved.
