For what it's worth, I believe this because this is how the game seems to determine your character's base class appearance. By way of example, if you started out Fighter, then as long as Fighter levels are equal to or greater than any other class, then enjoy your backpack.
I wish FC bonuses were in, even if they'd massively encourage all of your characters to be human even more than they already are. Humans have by far the best FC's.
Source is fairly simple. Just look at your characters hit points when making a character. You will have max dice roll for class + con modifier +1. Indicating favoured class is defaulting to hp boost.
Thanks, doesn't answer whether favored class is your first class or you highest level class though.
Just level Octavia in the normal 1 Rogue/3 Wizard/x Arcane Trickster pattern and she will have exactly 3 extra HPs from her wizard class being used as the favoured class. Once you get to AT10 and start levelling wizard again, she will start to get the 1 extra HP per level.
I know I have seen a post somewhere from Owlcat (possibly on the Owlcat forums) that confirms that this is how favoured class is implemented.
It's not max dice roll for class, they use some pathfinder society method, which I believe is half max hp rounded up.
Ironically, the extra spell per level wouldn't be all that useful in this game. You already get far more spells than you actually need as a sorcerer, maybe one or two spell levels could benefit from a +1, but that's it. Looking at the SRD, Kitsune might actually be my first choice for Sorcerer favored class (+1/4 DC to enchantment spells) in this game, but then, I usually prefer conjuration over enchantment for my save or suck spells (grease, stinking cloud, vinetrap)
