protection from evil
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that spell supposed to protect you from dominate person, mind control possession and evil summoned creatures? my main char got dominated after casting protection from evil on her and I was like what?? then I noticed the toolbar only says it gives + 2 devlection and resistance bonuses (non stacking with gear bonuses) to ac and resistance respectively making the spell useless.

In fairness a first level spell that grants immunity to domination is basically... The cheesiest thing ever.

Oh the enemy Wizard remembered to prepare his quickened protection form alignment? Man I'm happy I decided to play an Charmer.

But yes they didn't appear to add that functionality.
it did in 3.5 it was changed in pathfinder to a bonus to saves, alot of spells that use to be flat immunities in 3.5 but were changed in pathfinder to be a bonus to saves. Example is deathward which USE to give immunity to death effects which is now just a +4 to saves vs death effects. Some spells are also massively changed like finger of death no longer an insta kill but rather does a bunch of negative energy damage.

Replace bonuses with Sacred bonuses and you get yourself a solid spell, provided you use Inspect all the time. Enemies have high enough attack rating in this game that another +2 probably won't break balance much.

In all fairness fighting a creature that dominates as last boss and completely removing all spells that protect vs her domination is beyond cheesy ^^ but why let people finish the game right?
plus the reason for that spell was so that any caster worth her salt would prevent or could prevent the domination of her group's barbarian to 1 shot pk the whole group... (also allow the fighters to play in pen and papper without having the wizards clericsm, bards or game masters pla their characters all the time).

No.

"Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person). This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect. If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. This spell does not expel a controlling life force (such as a ghost or spellcaster using magic jar), but it does prevent them from controlling the target. This second effect only functions against spells and effects created by evil creatures or objects, subject to GM discretion."

Straight from the SRD. Now it requires that the spell originate from evil sources and is at GM discretion. But RAW means while you're under the effects of the spell evil creatures can't control you.

Edit: And in case you're wondering it also protects you from evil summons. Because why the hell not.

If protection would work against natural at-will abilities of Evil Outsiders only it would be ok. I think that's how it either worked in IE games, or eventually worked with modded monsters and spells to fit AD&D.
