2) It's not a spell it's an ability (rouges and monk gets it too)
Basically if you save vs a spell that had a reflex save, instead of half dmg, you take none.
How this ring work on rogue (or someone with Evasion)? Is it follow rule "if anything give your evasion while you already have it - you will get improved evasion instead"?
Well, there's a rule that magic item with constant effect weared for 24 hours = treat it bonus as permanent effect.
Cast a FB on someone with evasion ability, and that ring. Then fail the save. See if they take half damage (should take full dmg on failed a save if they don't have improved evasion)
Actually I asked a question about it and not stated it :)
What...can you pls explain? What exactly does this magic evasion give?
E.g. I have Improved Evasion skill, AND wear ring, it will make me evade better or will just be useless bauble?
My question is cause there is no description at all in game of that spell..
What stacks is uncanny dodge. If you have it and gain it from another source you gain improved uncanny dodge.
"If a rogue already has uncanny dodge from a different class, she automatically gains improved uncanny dodge "
I told you above. Also evasion is NOT a spell. It's a class ability.
Here's the full text:
Evasion:
At 2nd level and higher, a rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.
Improved Evasion:
Benefit: This works like evasion, except that while the rogue still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, she henceforth takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.
I'm reasonably sure (although untested in game, this is coming from tabletop experience), that if you already have the Evasion class feature, that a Ring of Evasion will provide no benefit.
Give it to some other character (who does not have Evasion), and be happy you have a choice for a different item in your ring slot.
