Report a translation problem
Note that for countering poison, using a communal delay poison spell before the encounter is much better than having to heal things up later.
So I think it deals more with temporary, damage over time effects.
You need greater restoration (GR) for that. This spells will cost you diamond dust btw.
Edit: Sorry, I think I confused the restoration spell a bit. Normal restoration should be enough. Thanks for the hint @Entropie

No ability damage is permanent and is healed by lesser restoration, ability drain is permanent and only healed by using at least resoration.
And that's the confusing part. Why does the spell - which is literally the same - nothing, but the potion works?
NOTE:
I know that poison stuff ftom AD&D. First they get poisoned and if not healed, the second damage applies, which requires said "lesser restoration".
But troubleshooting that like this would be a huge guessing game.
Can you upload a gif which shows you using lesser restoration on a char with ability damage?
