Soot-blackened brand is a limited time item, can that mechanic be changed?
Hey guys, I am torn up about missing the soot-blackened brand in my play-through.

I must have failed the perception check. I am usually paranoid about exploring every inch of the map and missing lore due to perception checks is my biggest fear. My rogue is even wearing the perception goggles, but I digress. Now this item is gone because the area has swapped out of the quest state (rescuing Jubilost's cart).

On to my request for the Devs: Is it possible to patch the game such that this item appears in a separate perception check if you missed it the first time? It's a limited availability item and part of a greater set of lore and it's bugging me a great deal that my save file won't have it and there's nothing I can do other than replay the game from the beginning. And I would, but I am quite far along now.

I am not sure if this is the right forum to reach out to Devs, but I am certain there are many others who have missed this limited time item during the Jubilost rescue scene and maybe don't even know it.

tl;dr: perception check with combination of limited time item make soot-blackened brand easy to miss and it's part of a lore set. No way to get it in your game if you missed it. Devs, please patch!

The brand isn't a perception check requirement, though? It was just in a chest during the Jubilost encounter, on the right-hand side, in the Gnome Camp. It IS time-limited, though, because after that, Jubilost and co clean up the camp.

I don't know how I missed it then, but it's not in my inventory and I've gone back trying to find it. I looked through vendor items just in case, but I am positive I never sold it because I am careful with vending items. The only explanation that fits is that I didn't pick it up and now it's gone as the area changed states.

My request for the game devs is to have this item be lootable outside of the limited time, is that possible?

You can cheat it into your inventory with a mod

I haven't used mods for this game, not sure how that would work. Is this something that would potentially damage my save file? Is it an external app? I would prefer for the game to be changed so that this item is not limited-time because I think that might be a really punishing mechanic that would trip up a number of lore seekers or collectors who try to do 100% runs.

Well, as a general rule EACH AND ANY mod could potentially do damages.
It's not an external app, it's this one:

Although, yes, you need the Unity Mod Manager to load the mods into the game.
I am using several mods and didn;t have any issue, as of now.

Thanks for your reply. I suppose I could try doing that once I am close to the end of the game, although it would still be great if the game devs could alter the mechanic so that this item stays lootable after the Jubilost rescue scene.

I agree completely. The dynamic of that event is that you're in a hurry to rescue the gnome caravan and good players will do exactly that. It doesn't reward good roleplaying if you place such an important item in a tucked away place that they're supposed to go find after having charged to the rescue.

100% agree. I also missed it and can attribute it only to being in a hurry to actually help out Jubilost. I had no idea I needed to go looting or risk missing an important item.

Now I have this incomplete item set just lingering in my inventory with no way to ever finish it.

They should just patch in to have the container stick around after the event (and put it back in place for those of us who missed it). I actually keep checking patch notes to see if they might have done it. (They haven’t.)

This suggests that, for a while, it is later available in the top left of the same map https://pathfinderkingmaker.fandom.com/wiki/Relic_Fragments in the Dwarven Smith Paraphernalia section. I went to search and found a small fight between kobolds and wolves there, after which there was a small chest with the final piece of the relic collection still there.
