Bug or not a bug?! Missing Rok Egg

I recently went to the Talon Peak location because I was exploring the map, I'm an adventurer that is what I do. Anyway, later I get an errand quest for a rok egg from the same location. Turns out I already killed the Rok from that location and there was no egg to loot then for the quest I need now. Is this a bug or perhaps simply a bad situation I got myself into? If I return to the Talon Peak location I will not find a newly spawned rock and the nest is not interactable.

I think the egg was lootable from its nest not the Roc itself.

I was unable to click on it. When I hit "Tab", the nest highlights but it is not lootable. I suspect that since the Roc in that area is a planned encounter my killing it earlier before getting the quest may have bugged the nest.

I got lucky then. I really wanted to go explore Talon Peak but it was very close to the end of the month and outside my barony. As soon as I realised it took over a day to get to the Peak I quickloaded and chose to head back to loadingdale instead.

explored it some minutes ago and got the egg (only one by three visible in the nest?) out of the nest and some other materials, had no quest which directed me towards it.

perhaps you can reload before you get the quest, go to the nest and see if you can loot it?

i looted way before the quest too, so don't know

Does the egg end up a quest item or does it go into the "other" catagory at the end of the inventory list? Perhaps if it ends up in the "other" catagory I mistook it for an owlbear egg or perhaps a gemstone.

Damn! It is a cooking item not a quest item! Ok, I had sold it to Hassuf who is now asking 3000gp for a damn Rok egg! That greedy SOB will not give his own baron a refund on a simple egg is instead asking me to put his kids through college for its return!

I suggest impale him, at least give him a good enema, this might change the course of this perpetrator.
