Varnhold Vanishing: Stuck at the border

Hi, just started the quest given in the throne room when you need to find the brother of a noble.
But i can't go in varnhold, i'm stuck at the guard event, when you can only go in varnhold city or go back in your barony.

Is this a bug? Or did i miss something?

Just wait a little bit until the main quest catches up to you (I suggest developing your baronie if you have excess time), then you will be fine to go there as you please.

you can find the next bit of this quest at the "something hillock" if memory serves... its via the mountains (you approach varnhold from the left, other side of the mountain range)

As Entropie said: You just have to wait for the main story to advance. You'll get a letter from your sponsor, and then you can explore the Varnhold region.

Im on this 1 now. Having same issue. Seems liek a strangely made quest. What I was expecting from this is like in all type of rpgs when some1 is missing you go and ask around in the inn, but yeah nothing there. Going to have to skip some events see if I get into Varnhold.

This quest failed for me (timer) due to it taking so long for Varnhold to open up.
Tough i see @Cypher say you can approach from another side, i'll see if i go back and find a save and test it.

Nope, the body is found during a book event in Shallow Gulch (NE of Varnhold) - this area is not accessible until you start Varnhold Vanishing.

yeah I got that quest, but stillcant get near Varnhold just get thrown back bu guards or escorted, but ill go back there and give it a try.

Ye this Area Shallow Gulch seems like I have no access to it. I see it in the map, but as soon I aproach it. Guards escort me back.
Probably just need to skip events.

You need to wait until you get the letter to investigate Varnhold.

Then you need to consider doing the brother quest first, and go back to tell his brother. Or just hope it doesn't time out and do it after you finish the chapter plot.

Anyone else have experience with NOT getting the letter. I've completed the game before, but never got the letter this time. I 'just waited' until my kingdom died of magic. thoughts?
