Still the prices on them is...wrong. Plain and simple.
Bag of Holding (pricelist per PnP)
I 15 lbs. 250 lbs. 30 cubic ft. 2,500 gp
II 25 lbs. 500 lbs. 70 cubic ft. 5,000 gp
III 35 lbs. 1,000 lbs. 150 cubic ft. 7,400 gp
IV 60 lbs. 1,500 lbs. 250 cubic ft. 10,000 gp
It all still wouldnt cost more then a few hundred gold. A thousand tops.
If you're a purist, then obviously this won't be your 'bag' but I just load a encumberance mod. I don't go overboard with it, but I simulate my party having pack mules this way.

Yep. I have four small ones so far. Bought two from the crazy troll torturer as I guess he has spawn triggers through the troll quest that restock his inventory and one from the capital and one from Oleg but even if you don't get the restock bug thats still three you could have early in the game.

And does the Mastadon fit in all the dungeons?
Yeah it does but becareful of tight spots as well cause it got trapped in the inn when I went up there to loot a chest and couldn't zone cause the mastadon got stuck behind the chair, you buy the bag of holding from the alchemy merchant guy next to the blacksmith in your city
I was confused because some of the earlier posts referred to multiple bags of holding.
Yeah not sure if there's more but so far only that one
You can buy a small bag of holding from the guy in the little trading camp that forms your HQ at the start (Oleg IIRC), and a large bag from the magical salesman in your town. Those are the two I've found so far.
There's probably a guide out there if you really want to get them, though the wikis and such for this game are less fleshed out than I would have expected.
Yeah having a large animal companion is awesome adds like 2k weight as well
