Olivia and acid splash

Olivia keeps using acid splash as her default action in combat. When I set up an ambush she will do the logical thing and fire initially with her flaming light crossbow, but at some point in the combat she will switch to acid splash and I can't get her to switch back. Do you know how annoying that is when you're fighting owlbears?
BTW I am already familiar with the feature of telling the character to keep casting a given spell, and have verified that I did not accidentally do that.

so the trick around this is to make something like Magic Missle her toggle, right click the skill. Once she has no more magic missles she will default to her sword of xbow or whatever. but she needs a spell 'auto attack' and the go to is acid splash. there is no way for her to not have one, but if she has no magic missles left to cast she will use her weapon

Olivia is Octavia actually, but as Living said, use something expendable first, then she will use her bow.

she's defaulting to acid splash for me as well, I think it's bugged or something

Cantrips + a Sneak Attack modifier are pretty awesome for a baseline attack throughout the campaign. Works awesomely with some builds, less so with others.

If you go the AT route where she has decent sneak attack damage you may want to consider keeping acid splash as her default. She ends up being able to pack a series punch with it

Acid splash only need to bypass touch AC, which is often much easier. As a rogue/wizard and usually AT, Octavia has a quite bad BAB, so spamming Acid splash is usually the most optimal thing to do.

I agree completely. After having her use a crossbow early on I quickly realized how much better her default acid splash was.

Pretty much why I chimed in here. Yes, you can get her to stop spamming that spell, but depending on the build you may find it’s her best default option.

This is only really annoying on Octavia when you ahve something like Dragonshape on her and you would rather have her attack 6 times versus acid splash once.
