Everyone's favorite Companions and Advisors
So there has been a lot of negativity lately, some of it deserved some not, regarding how buggy and somewhat broken parts of this game can be so I decided why not have a thread to showcase some parts that we love about the game? Particularly the companions and advisors.

As a complete and utter standout I really love Regongar. He is the first time I have ever seen a Chaotic Evil character done well that has not have me pulling out my hair, I tend to hate Chaotic Evil characters as a rule so I was really surprised at how much I liked Regongar. His rather tragic past, his relationship with Octavia and how it ends up, his self-loathing, his cheer and sheer enjoyment of life, and just how damned good he is as both a lover and a general. I want to give sheer utter props for just how good a character Regongar is here.

Ekundayo is also fun, despite his stoicness. I question if how a certain quest ends changes his alignment for not, I hear that one can do that with Regongar as well though I do not quite know how to do so as of yet, but I greatly enjoy the character. Ekundayo makes for a fantastic 2nd or 3rd in command for any Lawful Ruler of the Stolen Lands.

Nok-Nok is surprisingly cute and I have yet to kill him or make him sad as of yet. It's like kicking a murderous puppy.

Jaethal ended up being a rather fun character, though I swear that she is the absolute quietest member of the party in terms of interjections (Regongar being the most chatty it seems), and though I am disappointed that she is not romanceable I am curious at just what will happen with her.

Advisors:

Lander Lebeda was a rather fun character who ended up being my main regent for most of my second playthrough until a certain unavoidable event happens. I wasn't really surprised that it happened, hell I was pleasantly surprised that he was so upfront about it so we parted on relatively "peaceful" terms.

Can't speak about the other two Envoys yet due to this current bug sadly so I'll have to wait and see.

Harrim makes for a great High Priest and I've loved "Maegar Varn" as my Magister. Despite constantly being on the lookout for them to betray me at every point. The other religious Councillor you can get has also been surprisingly reasonable and fun to have around.

What about the rest of y'all? Are there any stand out companions or advisers that you would like to talk about?

Ekundayo is my favorite.

He reminds me a friend I had in the Marines and this line really articulates how some of us feel when everyone else felt the dust settled.

"Some days bitterness and rage fill me - I drive them away. Other days I feel a smile on my face and I apall myself. Only hunting numbs my feelings. But the farther I follow the trail, the darker the woods are... and the harder it is to find my way back."

Kind of smacks of a song by James Taylor I like called country road. Ekundayo might be racially and culturally different than me but we have a lot more in common than what others might see on the surface and so for that I'd shake the hand of whoever wrote him.

EDIT: Valerie started as my favorite, but dumb because being an athiest in a world where there are thousands of deities is dumb or blind. Could understand hatred for deities and theist would make more sense than being a priest in a world like this but atheist? give me a break.

My favorite team is MC, Linzi, Amiri, Regongar, Octavia and Tristian.

As for my fav character it is Regongar and Tristian.
The only thing I wish I could have a quest for (and maybe there is one) is the chance to

SPOILERS**********

Heal Tristians eyes

Linzi because she reminds me of a small inocent girl who sees the world to rose tinted glasses(i have to remind myself several times she is an adult)

Tristian because he is a kind person(and kind people are more rare then solar eclipe's)

Jubilost Narthropple because they is basicly me put in the game.
Full of himself but got the knowledge and skill to back up his ego.
His arogance makes me laugh.

Amiri because she enjoys the small things in life.

Jaethal i kinda like for being an immortality seeker like myself, doesnt winch hands on what must be done and isnt that bothered with being undead.
On the other hand she did kill her own family and for me family is sacred so.
I kinda like her and i kina want to kill her.

Jubilost, because they made him endearing despite being a completely pompous, pretentious, jerk. It... doesn't hurt that he's a very able treasurer.

Harrim, because his bizzare combination of love for his people covered by self loathing and all consuming defeatism is something we don't see very often.

I love them all. Regongar was my previous favorite for all of the reasons the OP stated but right now it is Nok Nok. Every time I make camp I’m quietly hoping for a hilarious Nok Nok interaction.

On that note, even if my party gets fatigued in the road I’ll wait for my destination or a wandering monster encounter before I make camp to watch the camp interactions. I really enjoy them, they are very well done and great little character pieces.

I hate nok nok with all my soul.
The first playtrough i got the little ♥♥♥♥♥♥, i didn't kill his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hill giant on spot, so he went wandering around and ccrashed my kingdom before i could stop it. And after that, the idiot started building shrines of a god i forbade all around the capital city.I really, REALLY hate that idiotic goblin.

Jaethal as a curator is so much fun. First event "Yeah don't build school, built pubs and keep your people drunk and docile." and this just goes on and on. Or when there is a problem that your peasants are starting to bullying your guards when your guards are trying to get an after works drink...and her success is rallying the guards into bullying the peasants, showing those people who actually has the power in the lands.

Just amazing. Also in some ways I love Kesten as *EVERY* suggestion he brings is "Just get more guards." Great advise.

Jubilost is my kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I laughed my ass off when you reach the troll and kobold king and he interjects "and you tried to steal my cart ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!" . Too bad he's an alchemist and not a mage, as my core party tactics has much better options then him. Favorite in terms of personality, least favorite in terms of class unfortunately. So he stays mostly in the capital, unless I'm doing his quests. Shame, I'd take him along everywhere if he wasn't an alchemist class. WHY COULD'NT YOU BE A WIZARD ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?! YOU HAVE 19 INTELLIGENCE!

Linzi is adorable, full of support and always positive. You just want to make her happy and get her a puppy. Plus she's swiss army knife, great buffs and debuffs and she carries the party when dealing skill checks. Inspire competence, courage, good hope. Great long lasting buffs. She has never left my party.

Octavia is really useful all around, has a good personality. I switch her out if I'm doing a companion quest, but otherwise she's always in my party.

Amiri is fun, she's a real bro and she's mechanically a great barbarian. The one other party member I always have in my party.

That said, all the companions are enjoyable.

I mean you could level him as a Wizard, you would not get the highest level spells, but he could still strong in that regard, if you want Jubilost like that.

Not worth it, you get him at level 5+ if you progress normally. Meaning he'll be at least 2 spell levels behind Octavia and my main PC. Given my staple party also always has Linzi. There really isn't any reason to waste a party slot on that. I just keep him as an alchemist and leave him in the capital. Shame as he's fun, but he really has no place in my current party.

Tristian is my favorite. Mainly he's a nice guy, he takes initiative, he's involved in things and most of all we just seem to agree on everything. Most of the times when I chose something he will nod or smile, when he suggests something it seems like the path that that my char would take anyway... we're best friends ever! Cleric buddies of the good gods! (At the oculus bit now and really curious about it)

Jhod is my second fave. Love the guy. Have used his portrait so theres two of us in the kingdom management... lol. Hes worried all the time with all these heretics around. No problems friend, we'll chase all the heretics and culist out together.

Basically in my mind Jhod, Tristian and my character are a trio of cleric best friends that run a good and pious kingdom. Never turn down any advice from those two.

I love Linzy too. Shes like my characters teenage kid or something. Extremely cute ray of sunshine. At the point where she screws something up -no spoiler- I was "awww" rl :p

I like Harrim inspite his being grim. Somehow he's grown on me and I wont go anywhere without him.

Octavia and Reg seem very interesting but Im playing a conservative guy (think Jhod) so I dont have them in the party.

My favorite advisor is more advisors.
Ilfiriel Oct 18, 2018 @ 10:16am
I love Octavia and Reg, the duo works extremely well and is well written for chaotic good, chaotic evil interaction/romance. My chaotic neutral elf serves as some sort of balance between the two which is hilarious because he normally would be all for randomness and chaos.

I like Harrim because he reminds me of some depressed philosopher who argue that meaninglessness while supposedly freeing has actually restricted even more the realm of possibilities.

And jubilost is actually interesting once you get past the first few impressions. Once he considers you in higher regards he will be actually very friendly and a good companion.

Question is Reg actually evil as a general ? I have been using Amiri up til now because I am trying to make my "kingdom" as close to an anarchist commune as possible and I thought Reg would be too intrusive or too murderous as general where Amiri is more hands off and community organisation driven. But since I am in the triple romance with reg and octi I should probably have reg as general to show my support for him. So idk.

Reg is in favor of all kinda magical stuff and making your soldiers into ruthless killers.

Not particularly. Though he is very "shock and awe"-type of commander (wizards, destruction magic). And very loyal to the soldiers, to the point that he'll back them up even if they've done something wrong.

But it's worth noting that he doesn't often complain if you go against his advice. Not sure if it's even possible to make him quit the advisor position, he's pretty easy-going about your choices.
