This is why you should care about your kingdom health.

These 2 are just examples of masterpieces your artisans can craft, each artisan can craft 1 masterpiece only after you finish all their quests AND raise your kingdom stats past a certain level.

Also it's theorized your artisans tribute you better and better gear regularly the higher your kingdom stats are. At the beginning your artisans only gift you various +1 and +2 gear, but people have been commenting that they recieve alot of the +3 and +4 gear once they got their kingdom stats higher.

So yeah, don't neglect your kingdoms, your kingdom stats are tied to some of the best gear in the game, so hitting rank 7 or rank 8 in most your kingdom stats should be your goal before the war with pitrax.

Also don't be afraid to buy tons of BPs to unlock as many regions as you can ASAP to unlock every artisan as soon as possible. The artisan gifts are the game's version of taxes basically and just by selling the extra gifts from your artisans that you can't use you can easily make back the gold you invested in BPs to unlock the regions in a couple of years. The sooner you invest, the sooner you can make your gold back.

I think there has been complaints about a difficulty spike endgame, I think the game near the end expects your whole party to be kitted out in bad♥♥♥♥♥+4 and +5 gear, so people who neglected their kingdoms and never bothered with their artisans probably are a little under geared for the end acts (or the artisans bugged out... hopefully owlcat fixes all artisan buggy questlines).

That is some most useful information.

Also, I have been putting off unlocking things too quickly for fear of it increasing potential problems. (Too much Civ mindset here) So you think it's better to fast track the expansion with no real downside other than BP?

So much for my shopping spree. :/ At least I read this before I spent the money. It makes sense.

No, the complaints on endgame are due bugs preventing us even getting to the end game.

Difficulty spike complains are due random encounters you can get as low level charecter, haven't seen single end game difficulty complaint exept when it comes to the very last dungeon.

One thing I am not certain is if the amount of problems that hit your kingdom is tied to how much land you own.

However all I know is in my first playthrough I leisurely expanded and completed the main quests the moment they popped up and most of my advisors just sat on the bench the first few acts pretty inactive.

I'm guessing if you tackle the main quests asap then expanding quickly shouldn't be too much of an issue. It's going to be a balancing act thats for sure.

yeah no doubt the end game is buggy, but there have been complaint threads regarding the difficulty of some of the endgame encounters too.

Sadly because of the bugginess of the game, its very hard to have a honest conversation regarding the balancing until most of the gamebreaking bugs are fixed.

Sounds amazing, if you know endgame kingdom management was actually fun and balanced.

If only the questlines for these artisans didn't bug out more often than not.

The most amazing thing here is the fact you got them to actually work. :steammocking:

they fixed the questlines for a couple of the artisans, hopefully all of em will be fixed soon.

Luckily the +3 and +4 gear your artisans gift you don't require you to complete their questlines and are more likely tied to kingdom stats.

Ah yeah, now that I mention it I heard pitax chapter can have something like 700 ac guards, but, me being one of those that can't even get there due game bugs ( started all over five times now, not going past safe zone before it's patched), I have no personal comments on them.

Alrighty, well it sounds worth trying. I'm in the same boat now as your first game, quite a few inactives and only one artisan. I think I'm just starting Act 4 now - the tomb is done and seems the timer is shorter but I am hoping to get those stats up and put off exploration in hopes I'll get a chance to do it later. But other than that I should probably get at least a few artisans unlocked. I'm fully prepared to not make it as a ruler the first go, but I can't say I'd mind it.

Yeah I didn't realize how easy it was to get artisans to start gifting you stuff. You literally just visit your new regions towns, all the named NPCs are artisans and you just do 1 simple quest for them to unlock their workshop, and then you just build their workshop in that town and bam they start showering you with gifts lol.

Also if you miss out of recieving an artisan's gift due to being out of town for too long or skipping too many days, the gift automatically goes to your chest storage!

Is there a list of all these artisans and where you find them? I have yet to see one.

Everytime you conquer a region a NPC will offer you their services. Acept and build a workshop for them. When you level up your kingdom and their town, it will reward you with better gear.

South Narlmarshes = Armor, shields and Weapons
Silverwastes = amulets and tiaras
Vanhold = Medium armor/ Gloves/ boots and feet
North Narlmarshes = Scrolls, Rods , Staffs
Outskirts = Potions - Rings - oils
