+9 dex before buffs or equipment cant be beat.
very fun to watch enemies melt in one round.
Yes, Rogues are awesome. I think I'm about 3/4 through the game with a Two-Weapon Fighting Rogue (no archetype).
Your options are: *If you want melee Sneak Attack
No Archetype - Sneak attack (massive damage if you have other melee buddies), Big perception boost, some trap resistance stuff which you'll never use, and some debuffs.
Thug - Great passive debuffs, Same sneak attack, no perception or trap bonuses
Knife Master - Best sneak attack (only with knives, so take Martial Weapon Proficiency and use Kukris), no perception or trap bonuses
Eldritch Scoundral - You get decent wizard spells, but NO sneak. I would not recommend just grab a wizard if you want one.
*For the first 3, you'll want to play Melee because they get a bunch of abilities that make you use Dex for melee to-hit and damage, which is wasted if you want ranged.
If you want ranged Sneak attack, which are super easy to make in this game, check out Alchemist (Vivisectionist). You get the Sneak Attacks, and a lot of the skills, but no bonuses to trap disarming.
*edit* Yea, as VladK02 mentioned, there is a Knife Master Rogue companion if you can stand using him. My Baron fills the role, so Nok sits at home ;)
Knife Master does 1d4 with anything but knives, so you have to focus knives and can't e.g. pull out a bow as effectively as another flavor of Rogue. That said, you do pretty ridiculous damage, you get a Knife Master (Nok-Nok) down the road, specifically one focused on Kukri by default, so you have room to e.g. focus on daggers with your main character and have two people out there doing obscene damage and mowing down most of your foes quite quickly. There are currently some builds like Arcane Trickster that are doing sneak attack damage with fireballs when they shouldn't be, I'm not sure if that's fixed yet but it will be. I believe the only time they should do sneak attack damage with fireballs is when the enemy is flat footed (if you win initiative, then the first round of combat.)
Rogues can be a lot of fun, and you get a lot of skill points and Persuasion as a class skill, and since there are a lot of player only persuasion checks it's nice to have a character who is capable of being very good at Persuasion. Perception is another one, where having really high perception will reveal areas and the paths to them that might otherwise elude you. YMMV how much "fun" they are compared to other classes, but I made my second character a Knife Master when I was stuck on the Pitax bugs before this latest hotfix so I can say that I've enjoyed that.
