Because Shrikes impale their prey on thorns.
Aasimar Paladin went for references to his deity: Everlight was the capital; Barony was Sarenia, he wasn't the brightest cookie.
Tiefling Eldritch Scion went for all sorts of shenanigans: capital was named Stagfall for example, he liked being poetic about the names; I think the Barony was a Hornia? I think it was that, because he found it funny.
EDIT:
It was Horntalia.
Good thing you didn't name it after Nymphadora Tonks...
Fey --> Fae (Easy).
Portal --> Veil (I thought of the Veil in Dragon Age. Especially Dragon Age Inquisition's plot. The Stolen Lands deals with similar issues). :p
issan --> Again, I wanted something that made the name sound like a name of an elven kingdom.
' --> Same as issan.
We are a breakaway state from Jamandi's clutches, we are the real Swordlords, and she really does not like us (maybe I came late to a battle, maybe I sided with someone other than Jamandi?). King is an Aldori defender/Swordlord of course. It felt fitting to change the name of the Stolen Lands.
Also custom-named the settlements of course, Vord is still around, so it was only proper to change the name of a certain place to honour him.
One I named after the Hellknights, but that didn't... work out. Still keeping the name though.
Of them all, Linziquill being so close to Pitax always brings out a smile.
