Clerics and spell failure chance?
Harrim's initial load out gives him a whopping 45% spell failure chance and Jaethal has 30% failure chance, according to their spellbooks.

I'm a bit confused because when I played the P&P version of Pathfinder I was certain that Clerics weren't affected by armour when casting divine spells. But the last time I played Pathfinder was nearly a decade ago, so did the game get it wrong or was I playing the P&P version wrong?

It's kind of weird that I need my clerics to be unarmoured to stave off fail chance.

Ugh, I wish they were clearer about that. New players are just going to see "45% SPELL FAILURE CHANCE" in their spellbooks and freak out... I literally had Harrim running around naked since meeting him

so the spell failure only applies to wizards, sorcerers and magi?

I believe that should be the case because I've never played on a table where clerics ran around without armour unless it was some sort of gimmick

Harrim never failed a spell for me and he wears banded mail and a heavy shield. Takes dirt naps often though he loves his dirt naps.

In comparison, the Bard class has their Spell Failure Chance reflected correctly in this game. I remember bards could wear light armour without worry of spell failure because I had a couple of bard characters back in the day...

It's only everyone else (ala Divine Casters) that shows up wrong

my own cleric has 50% failure and botched 3 spells, WTF is going on and that was outside combat

It's Arcane Spell Failure. Clerics, rangers, druids, paladins, etc. all use divine magic. It doesn't affect them. If your spells are failing, it's because of something else.

If it's not suppose to effect devine casters than the spell failure text needs to be removed. If it is effecting, than it needs to be fixed.

Its listed because its a statistic, its ARCANE spell failure chance, its on the character sheet. Its important for multiclassing/specific builds. Its not effected at all from what I can attest in my games.
Wizard Sep 28, 2018 @ 1:45pm
It's a statistic for those who are effected, only. That text should not be visible for anyone who is not effected. Just seeing that stat makes people believe they have a spell failur chance.

It should not be listed for non-arcane casters. I am sure it will get patched eventually. To argue otherwise it is ignorant.

LOL there are morons saying that it should still be there even if you can't cast arcane spells and it doesn't apply to you? lmao also no it isn't ARCANE spell failure chance according to the text itself it says SPELL FAILURE CHANCE i'm looking right at it right now.

No where does it say anything about arcane or otherwise. SPELL

you're wrong period. It should be changed to ARCANE SPELL FAILURE CHANCE or just not ♥♥♥♥♥♥ be there like basic common sense.
