It's easy to edit the save (search for your character's name, then just before that is an item called Vector which contains the alignment).
Alignment is tracked in x,y coordinates on the alignment wheel. The X axis is Lawful to Chaotic, the Y axis is Evil to Good. Just like in geometry class, the coordinates determine the alignment you end up with, with a max position of 1, and a minimum of -1. For example, coordinates of 1.0,1.0 would be furthest up and to the right, which is Chaotic Good, whereas -1.0,1.0 would be Lawful Good.
Vector/position for alignments:
Lawful Good - X: -1.0 Y: 1.0
Neutral Good - X: 0.0 Y: 1.0
Chaotic Good - X: 1.0 Y: 1.0
Lawful Neutral - X: -1.0 Y: 0.0
True Neutral - X: 0.0 Y: 0.0
Chaotic Neutral - X: 1.0 Y: 0.0
Lawful Evil - X: -1.0 Y: -1.0
Neutral Evil - X: 0.0 Y: -1.0
Chaotic Evil - X: 1.0 Y: -1.0
How do I do it correctly?
I used 7zip to open. Only extracted what I needed (example party file has stats) editors that (using notepad ++) and then just pasted it back into the directory.
Nice. Thank you. I made it work. :)
Here's a little shortcut so you don't need to extract/compress anything anymore. When you open the save file, right click and select 7zip, then select 'open archive.' This will open the files without actually extracting them. You can edit the party.json directly from there, save your file, then 7zip will ask you to update the archive. Click okay and you're done. :)
Thanks. That is exactly what I did in the end. :)
If you wish to modify the original alignment choice:
-First atone yourself and save your game
-Open the save file as described above
-Extract and edit the party.json file
-Search for the instance of your character name, that has a short alignment-change section (because you atoned)
...if the json file was in 'pretty' format it would look like this:
-Modify both alignment x/y values and the alignment name to match your new choice.
-Repack the party.json file into the .zks save file
-Load the save and see if it worked!
now I can at least edit a savefile when its time to experiment =)
This mod can do full respec for companions as well. Race and alignment
