Multiclassing from Eldritch Scion?
So I started the game over after taking vivisectionist and went for Eldritch Scion. It's ok, but I kinda feel I want to do something else and now I am thinking about multiclassing.
Currently at lvl 3 and I think I'll get bored til lvl 8 where it's supposed to be great cause of the constant spell combat ability.
I kinda like the idea of vivisectionist, so might that be a decent choice to multiclass into?
Would it totally mess up my character?

Eldritch knight or fighter... either works. Knight has some redundancies but its basicly the prestige version of a magus but with fighter BAB with spell bonuses from level 2 so you don't gimp spellcasting too much.

But does that mean I would have to get to lvl 7 to cast 3rd level arcane spells first? (going by the pnp rules, cause i can't wrap my head about the level progression list ingame)
Might as well hold out that 1 more level to get to 8 and then go eldritch knight.

Thing is you will gimp your casting regardless if you multiclass. If you want to maintain a decent level of casting... you need to either only taking a handful of side level or take a prestige class that maintains your spell progression while giving you the extra umph you want.

Its why multiclassing caster types tend to be a bad thing.... unless it complements your play style and you don't mind loosing spell levels. With eldritch knight you loose 1 spell level progression. Dragon disciple looses 2 or three I think...

Yeah but I mean which path would you suggest towards Eldritch Knight? I can't pick it right now, since I can't cast lvl 3 spells at lvl 4 (which i am currently sitting in front of the levelup screen)

I don't know its been a while so I don't remember the full requirements... I know you need martial and a skill or skills at 5.... but Magus works also as a pure class. Its really on you you want to be more smash or more casty.

I honestly don't know.... Magus tends to shine at higher levels...

Guess I'll just stick it out.

I am more smashy I guess since I tend to not use my spells too often, cause i have that flaw where I want to hold on to my limited ressources.
Eldritch Knight sounds interesting, but it has "being able to cast lvl 3 arcane spells" requirement and at lvl 3 Magus I don't have that yet.

Since I am meleefocused I thought about getting one of the 2 sneak attack classes (vivisectionist or rogue) but for the first my spell casting ability is INT and Magus was CHA, so of course I didn't level INT.
Similar with Rogue my Dex is OK, but not as good as STR, so switching over to Weapon Finesse is also not really the best idea.

Honestly similar boat and playstyle so hoping they release bloodrager as a class later on.

But as for magus if you want more melee look up dragon disciple or eldritch knight as others have said..or maybe just plain fighter if sacrificing spells is ok to you

God yes, the bloodrager would have been my first pick. Wanted to play that in a PnP I played, but we already had too many melee fighters and also a barbarian, so I didn't pick him.

Gonna look up Dragon Disciples, cause then I could get it next level.

Dragon discples trade caster lvls for breath attacks and flight, as far as i can see. Interesting, but then your looking at sorcerers.
